I'm an atheist or an agnostic.
I find faith ridiculous, but at the same time interesting.
I respect people who found the faith in them to believe something so unreal. Sometimes I wish I was like that too.
I won't say why I don't believe in god entirely,
I want to hear if you guys think that God exists or not.
Im thinking about it and I want to hear your opinions about it!

I think God exists but I completely reject the claims of mainstream religion. If there is a god it would likely be completely impersonal. I can't imagine it would care if we worshipped it, or ate pork, or had sex before marriage. But as an animating principle for the universe, an energy, or something beyond our comprehension? Absolutely. I can totally get behind that. I spent a lot of time thinking and reading about this in prison and that's the conclusion I came to.

I don't know. I'm heavily agnostic. The idea of an Abrahamic God seems so way off the mark and oftentimes downright mean. Other Gods from other religions seem to be either egregores at best if they exist.

Sometimes I kinda wish there was a personable, caring God that you could talk to and say whatever and they would just make everything all better or make it make sense. Redemption. Love. That kind of thing.

But the more I look at the universe and see how brutal and uncaring it is, the more I doubt there is such a personable being at all.

I do however kinda semi-believe in Metaphysical things. I think there are some phenomena that science just hasn't explained yet. So for now we label it as metaphysical or "woo woo" stuff.

I think the answer to a lot of things in life is "I don't know". We're so limited in our ability to not only understand how everything works but even grasp the concepts. Astrophysics is insane and its hard to wrap my brain around it entirely.

So long as the problem of suffering and the question "who/what created existence in general" is unanswered by "God" or science, we can never really know for sure.

My mindset about it used to be similar to yours, but I believe in God now. I've had spiritual experiences that have changed and guided me.

I don't think there's any evidence to support a god existing in the way it's told to us.

If there is a higher consciousness, I'd imagine it wouldn't care for us.

I think we're kind of like a flee on the back of a dog. The flee has no way of knowing what a dog is. We pray for answers everytime the dog scratches us off.

People have been debating this for thousands of years. There is no evidence of a God. Therefore, it's up to the individual to decide what to believe in or simply not to believe at all. My beliefs are cross between Christianity and New Age. I go to church and I pray. I do believe that God exists. But I believe there is truth in all religions, I respect everyone in their beliefs or lack of belief.

Yes. I know I was at my best in life when going to church, trying to follow the teachings of Jesus, etc. Going on my own has led to total ruin.
So much we don't understand though. Maybe on the other side.

I agree with @persepexa here. It's the not knowing part that often wipes me out. It's easy for me to get wrapped up in existential dread at times, as well as to feel kind of bummed out about it; but it becomes easier to accept that whatever happens happens in the end with time.

What tends to comfort me most here is to acknowledge just how out of our control it always was. The property of 'free will' as we know it seemingly has never had any substantial metaphysical claim in this configuration.

That said, while I'm often skeptical of any intentional authorship of the universe, more atheistic explanations also tend to be a bit too comfortable hand waving away the problem of the essential indexical. The hard problem of consciousness. All in my humble opinion, of course. Good luck on your journey.

there are so many debatable perceptions of what god is or isn't so people should just believe in whatever they want if it brings them solace. it really seems more about the feeling it evokes rather than if it's real or not.

I really hope not because I can't see them as having sentient creature's best interests at heart. I struggle to feel confident either way though- whether they do or don't exist.

Either he exists according to Abrahamic tradition and he's morally reprehensible, or he exists as an entirely neutral spectator unlike any religious belief. I can't say if he does or doesn't exist at all because that is something we cannot know for sure.

No, I could never believe in such, to me existence is the most terrible, tragic mistake that just causes harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, it's just terrible dreadful suffering all for the sake of it.

I could never see a point to any of this, existence to me is just the most dreadful abomination that only ever tortures existing beings and causes all this pain and suffering all for the sake of it, there's just so much evil in existing, I'll always see the existence of life as the most terrible, devastating tragedy, all I want is to permanently cease existing and finally be free from the suffering, cruelty and torture of existing, it's just so terrible to me how this existence was even imposed at all.

I think there's something but it's beyond our comprehension. I don't want to believe, I want to KNOW. But it is not possible...

What is freedom when demanded of you by a god?

Even from a scientific perspective, I find the Big-Bang thing pretty hard to believe. Either the Universe itself is God, or it was created by that God. I don't really believe that "something" can spawn out of "nothing", unless it wasn't bounded by any laws of the world like an Omnipotent God. If you put Omnipotence in the equation you can just say that even if a Gods existence is a contradiction or doesn't make sense, it doesn't matter since beings on that level don't have to follow any level of Logic. And I say this as someone who's not religious anymore... Science feels only useful to find out information that you can measure and study, but the world genuinely feels supernatural.
