I stood on the edge of a bridge a few weeks ago but was too scared to CTB. I went home, was ashamed at my failure.

Could getting a bit drunk (so that you still have control over yourself) get rid of the fear?

I rarely drink alcohol (maybe 1-2 glasses each year).

Back when I was drinking, a long, LONG, time ago, it never did that (reduce anxiety, fear, apprehension) for me.

For me it helps when trying to hang. But as much as it does reduce the fear, it doesn't get rid of it completely.
I'm struggling with overcoming my SI as well.

i've known people who were only ever suicidal when drunk. it would make them quite impulsive and prone to attempts. unfortunately, i don't think this is an affect that can be predicted. like many substances, it works different for everyone. some people, on the other hand, could be more anxious thus being less likely to attempt.
