From a podcast i listen to he repeats that everyone who has jumped off The Golden Gate bridge and survived has said that they are glad they lived. I call BS!!
After 2 serious attempts at CTB (not a cry for help but i need to end my pain/torment) All I have felt is pissed off that i was still here. It takes a lot of determination/courage to end your life. I was gutted i'd failed. And from what I've read on here the majority of people feel the same?

But why would someone be on this site if they are glad that they failed ctb. Anyway I certainly do believe that the lie that everyone who fails ctb regrets it, is repeated by pro lifers in order to make it seem justifiable interfering in people's suicide attempts and just prolonging people's suffering. Pro life type people are unable to come to terms with the fact that many people in this world actually want to die as accepting such a thing would shatter the worldview of the pro lifers.

I've always thought that sounded like bullshit too. Still- I have wondered- with those who are grateful- whether it's because they got a whole load of support after a failed attempt. I suspect people take you more seriously when you actually try to take your own life rather than just talk about it. Maybe it depends on who you have around you but it seems to me there are people here desperately looking for help and they're being ignored.

I have also considered whether it's just the shock of it that maybe re-invigorates the will to live- maybe just on an instinctual level even. I'm terrified of fire for instance. I once witnessed a fire at the top of a high rise block of flats- from a great distance I might add but it still utterly terrified me. I thought I was suicidal at the time but it REALLY shook me up. I became terrified to die seeing that

I've never actually attempted but I can't imagine myself being happy if an attempt failed. Reckon I'd be annoyed and embarrassed.

People that talk about ctb in the media are either non-suicidal people, or "good examples" that pro life people like to hear.

There are very strict rules that people usually follow when they talk about ctb. This is why you'll never get the pov of a person who deals with heavy problems and wants to ctb.

They want to avoid "contagion" even if this contagion is giving people hope about escaping their life and/or pain.

Personally, no. I wish that I had succeeded and hope to be successful soon. I'm sure a lot of people are though.

No. I still think that we live for nothing and I can't change my mind no matter what. That's how my mind sees the word normally.

I agree that any type of media discussing suicide is framed in such a way as to discourage it.

They never report regular suicides in the news. Only murder-suicides, celebrity suicides and suicides that occurred after a person committed a crime and was cornered.

If 3 murders occurred in your city that day, they'll report all of them. Three suicides? No.

They'll never share stories of the people who regret that they failed. They'll never talk about the ones who still went on to commit suicide after that.

Staying alive is a religion and suicide is blasphemy.

They'll air survivors thanking God for saving them after some disaster, but have you ever seen them interview a bystander who blamed God for causing the disaster?

To answer your question, I can't imagine a single scenario where I'd be glad about any type of failure. Failures are learning experiences/practice at best.

Especially if you have survived jumping of The Golden Gate bridge. You would have broken numerous bones and serious permanent pain.

No, every failed attempt I've had was traumatizing and scary.

I only felt like a failure that I couldn't die even after thorough planning ;-;
I suspect only impulse attempts MIGHT feel happy they failed. If someone wants to die because of all the issues they might have, or if they want to go back to the void (eternal oblivion), why would they be happy they failed?

There's a documentary film about a bipolar dude who survived that, he was uncouncious though but a sea lion saved him by keeping his body afloat till the cost guard arrived it's crazy. Now the guy is happy he didn't succed, lives a decent live and tries to save other peoples life on the golden gate. Here's a youtube video about his story.
