I used to drink heavily. This became unsustainable financially. So I used food as a pleasure source as I weened myself off alcohol. I don't regret doing this, because the absence of alcohol left a hole in my life. I might have failed had I not done things this way.

Unfortunately, this has resulted in weight gain. The food has served its purpose, but my relationship with it has to change. If I continue down this path I'll end up becoming one of those rolling chain feeders who spend the day bouncing between fast food outlets on a mobility scooter.

I know I have what it takes to greatly restrict my calourie intake. I think I'll have 1 microwavable burrito a day until Christmas. The only problem is the burrito don't contain any vegetables.

Losing weight will give me more of a hit from the anti-depressants too.

Please share your fasting experiences with me.

I'd go with a high-protein diet with lots of fruit/veg/fiber, rather than fasting. Also, getting dem gainz should help. But I ain't got no fancy degree or nuthin.

I don't think it contains enough protein, either. You'd be surprised at how many people are not getting an optimal amount of protein (despite being able to afford it).

Nothing better than protein for keeping the hunger away, in my experience. Especially shakes.

Definitely lines up with my experience too. I think there is something to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_leverage_hypothesis

I'm not sure it would help in this case where the reason for eating seems to be more emotional but it's worth a try!

There are many ways to do this. Intermittent fasting, or one meal a day like me. I do that to save money and keep my weight normal.

But one microwave burrito a day is too little. That's like what, 400 calories? You'll crash your metabolism and have major lethargy.

I would either do omad with like 1500-2000 cals or just go healthier in general as suggested above.

Iv had anorexia and bulimia for 10 years , I have been fasting for a long time but that's because of my disorder. I wouldn't recommend restricting heavily for weight loss as it's not sustainable, you will end up binging and gain the weight back or more

The diet you suggest would be dangerous to do over this time due to the lack of nutrition- without certain vitamins in your diet things can go terribly bad. For example, some people who have gone on extremely restrictive diets in rare cases have gone blind and in one case I know of they went deaf also. Take away essential nutrienbts for that long is very dangerous. If you ate 1800 calories a day during that stretch, including a healthy salad everey day, plus a pound of frozen vegtetables, and a helathyt6 source of protein you could be ok. Please don't cut most nutrition from your diet- all kinds of terrible things can happen to your health.

You will suffer a lot physically and mentally if you restrict food.

Thanks for the input, guys. I have decided to only do the burrito thing 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). On the other 3 days I will get the nutrients I'm not getting on the other 4.

It was hard at first, but being disciplined provides a high of its own.

I use fasting as an organ detox. I fast for 21-28 days, once a year. Fasting is not a tool for weight loss because once you reintroduce food back into your body, you will gain the weight back.

If you decide to fast, please learn how to properly break the fast. You can harm yourself if you eat solid foods too soon. Drink organic broth and freshly squeezed juices. I recommend drinking blue green algae as well.

Add Celtic salt to your broth

Yes I used to fast every week for 2 or 3 days. The longest stop going was 23 days with water.

I recommend beans or chili with a variety of vegetables. It's quite filling
