Does anyone find social media stressful and hate it?

Well yes, I essentially removed everything except Reddit since I don't really know anyone personally on that platform. The only way to reach me is by text or calling me as god intended, which nobody is doing anyway

Yeah Reddit is abit more private, but people can still be horrible there.

Study after study after study has been done in recent years showing that, generally, social media has a pretty negative effect on people, especially adolescents. I got rid of all of my social media accounts two years ago and it's one of the best decisions I ever made.

I don't really interact with anyone there and I stay far away from any self helping/depression subreddits. It's basically just to pass the time. Any platform except here doesn't respond particularly well with suicidal thoughts or tendencies, people don't really want to deal with that and often just refers us to seek professional help which I totally get.

Social media is just people at their peak, when we are at our lowest it doesn't benefit us in the slightest! Especially people we know or our vicinity.

I don't really do any "social media" apart from this site, because I really don't want anything to do with it. I don't even know if it's correct to call SaSu "social media", really.

I read certain selected orgs on Instagram and sometimes look at a single Fb page, both only for updates - and that's it. I don't post, only read. Tbh, I don't really understand social media. I'm technically minded, a bit of a geek even, but I've never really understood it's popularity. Imo, there are better, more reliable, news sources and more effective means of communicating than any social media platform.

I've got a Facebook account that I dont post much on because my lifes boring!

But I do like having a nosey now and again but mainly keep it open because I joined a few groups which helps feeling connected to others.

Yes, I think that's where Fb works best, with groups for keeping members informed and maintaining that sense of shared interest. The 1 Fb page I keep an eye is for a group. Fortunately, it's open so I don't need an Fb account to read it. If it did, well, I don't know, that might be a step too far for me.
