Does anyone else wonder if your suicide will be used for statistics to support an article you don't like.

I really don't like the current trend of hating on gen z for being online and antisocial,,,,mostly because I'm really online and antisocial .
But also because it's bs because I still see plenty of kids my age socializing ,having fun and drinking and other typical youth bullshit. Kinda just feels like they're attacking me , article after article ,thinkpiece after thinkpiece of anti social teens and young adults growing in number and ruining everything good about the world . Like I'm not just harming myself ,I'm harming everyone else too with my suckiness.

Anyways the only bad part of suicide I can think of is being a part of a statistic that some middle aged,white journalist from the new York times uses to say " is th internet killing the youth; why we hve to ban kids from the only free outlet there is".

Yeah. Especially as a trans woman, I think my death is likely to be swept into some statistic. I never asked to be representative of my demographic but alas here we are.

I don't have control over it though. Events happen. People perceive them and then double down on their biases. Sometimes the well is already poisoned before it even stands a chance. Oh well.

Yes! That's also a fear of mine ,they're going to use my identity and my death as a reason to fearmonger. I remember in my shitty hometown my shitty teachers always used some real life people's tragedy to promote their own religion. I'm afraid those assholes will do the same with mine

This makes me think of the song Enough by Gouge Away with the lyrics "I wasn't born to die a statistic".

That being said my death will inevitably be used in a study talking about the correlation between being Trans and suicidal. There are a few studies that I think my death will contribute to but that part of my identity is the most politicized.

The deaths of suicidal people are already seen as politicized anyway because they were an active choice instead of random happenstance. Healthy, "normal" people don't kill themselves, so if you do, someone will try to figure out what was "wrong" with you and blame your suicide on them.

It's kinda like the "violent video games" debate that started after Columbine. Preventing suicide would cost time, effort and money and,- horror of horrors-, would force people to improve aspects of society somewhat. So yeah, some establishment chucklefuck will blame whatever is easiest to ban instead, be it the internet, your relationship to your gender, mental health, videogames, music, Dungeons and Dragons, Anime or whatever else they don't like.

Don't think about it too hard, your isolation is actually a systemic issue exemplified by a lack of third spaces, everything being a fucking parking lot now, work hours too high with the hustle culture
