I basically daydream all day and make up fake scenarios like I don't mind being alone and stuff as long as I have my head i also do it to forget about my mental illnesses. But it's getting to a point where I'm dissatisfied with reality and want to live in the world of my making. Idk our world just lacks whimsy but even if it did have it people would manage to ruin it one way or another. Maybe I'm reading too much manhwa/manga. But it's the only thing that gives me hapiness and distracts me from the painful reality that I'm alive

I also imagine a lot of fake scenarios and conversations in my mind. I think its partly a coping mechanism to disassociate from my reality. It probably doesn't help that I have very little interaction with other humans 😅

i think i might be autistic and i always do different character voices outloud like they are talking to each other (at least when i'm in a good mood)..

like one time i was trying to tweak a microwave timing to cook this one thing perfect, and i happened to add some more seconds and it made the time amount happen to be 3:14 (3 minutes 14 seconds) and that triggered me to start this crazy dialog like (if i can remember it right):
doc: set it to pi marty
marty: the microwave doesn't have a pie button doc.. it has popcorn button and rice button but not a pie button
doc: no marty! set it to pi, not pie
marty: doc are you listening to your self right now? we're not even cooking a pie
doc: no marty, i'm talking about the number pi, not the food.. push 3 1 4 on it, use your brain for once marty

i'm constantly saying crazy stuff like that all the time unless i'm depressed or some thing.. it keeps me entertained and i make my self laugh a lot..

i've wondered what normal non-autistic people do to keep their self entertained all the time, but maybe they don't get bored as easily as i do so maybe they don't need as much entertainment like i do or some thing, who knows..

When I was still working, I would spend all day mentally preparing my tabletop RPG sessions. As my fantasy setting became more detailed and "lived in" through years of player influence and contribution, I would imagine staring at the map of my setting, then zooming in to a more granular level in order to "observe" what was happening in a particular location. Being functionally retired from GMing, I've steadily lost both the ability and desire to continue doing this.

I do the same thing. I always daydream about a better life. Being more outgoing, more likable, having a welcoming community to be a part of, being in a job I'm okay with.

I just end up getting sad when I realize I probably won't ever get to that point. Maybe I can get close, but I'll never be the outgoing and carefree person I've always wanted to be. I'm anxious and introverted and awkward, and I think that a lot of that can't be changed, only adapted to.

I can relate heavily to the idea of wanting to live in a world of your own making. There's this thought experiment about whether you'd want to live in a perfect world knowing it was fake (like the Matrix or something) or live in a bad world but with the knowledge it was real. Maybe this is naive or weak of me, but I always answered that I'd rather just live in the fake world.

Isn't it all in your head?
Like, are we really here?
Maybe you're in a coma somewhere, in some dream you're about to wake from.
There is no one reality, only the reality.
Entering 'our' reality. Eating away. Burying itself. The ancient.
Filtered, negated and distorted through a subjective individual process within a state of constant motion and time.
It's awareness unfolding before our eyes.

I would say most lives are already dead - and the moment we happen to seek a non-existence in our memories there's an absence of our lives, like living ghosts, fragments of ourselves merely existing in the people that surrounded us. Always apart but sustained by a relative closeness in those who we've chosen to exist to.
Just like your fantasy we exist internally projecting our perspective on the outside subconsciously & in every way you can't see.
One moment here, forgotten the next, but substantial by the very source of destruction and creation itself.

Eeeeyup. Imaginary boyfriend, imaginary pet cat (serious), imaginary friends even if I luckily have real friends. I dunno, I kinda never left the "imaginary phase." I mostly make scenarios as I'm going to bed or listening to music though, regardless of how unrealistic it is. It's a little bittersweet tho, knowing I can't have that happiness in real life.

I'll think up these scenarios of ways I could live my life and end up in these wonderful situations and accomplish all these dreams
and then snap out of it and remember I haven't accomplished anything and have no motivation for the sustained effort it would take to do so

I really want to stop hoping, it's so painful every time

Having those really nice dreams that make me feel things like being flustered or feeling loved or excited about something. Then I fixate on past dreams for days with music or other fiction work until it dies down and I need to find something new to make me feel excited about. Which is why I like looking back on old texts with people I used to have a great bond with. Think about interactions and leveling them up to something higher in my head.

Oh my god! Me too! But I often feel like I'm dissociating, you get what I mean? It's been while since I feel truly grounded. It's cray. I don't imagine scenarios much. When I do, I write stories. What I do all the time is just... let go, you get me? I mean, it's not to the point that I can't drive my car but just enough to be able to tune out stuff during conversations, work, etc.

It hasn't interfered with my daily life but it does make it hard for me to socialize.

I do the same thing; I live in my head most of the time, imagining a reality where everything is easier. I imagine fictional scenarios where everything is happiness and fantasy, ever since I was a child I have this habit because of my social isolation; I do it to feel less alone

I created an entire Epic (yes, an epic, it spawns along 1000 years) in my head.

I created a concept of a videogame, a movie, an anime...

I often find myself talking in interviews in my head. I put myself in the shoes of a game dev, writer, athlete, politician, etc. and I just talk.

"Why did you do x?"
"[my response]"

That's often how it goes. Can keep me busy for hours. I've been doing so much that often find myself doing unconsciously. I dont know if there is an actual term for this or if it is common at all. But I really do live in these fantasies in my head.

I can relate to that. Quite often, even in social situations I find myself getting lost in my own reality and having to make a conscious effort to stay in the real world and pay attention to the ongoing conversation.
