I thought that was sort of a normal thing for everyone.

Yes and no. I just joined and I did share some early events of my life that I did not tell anybody. There are a few things I think I would not share, I am ashamed of them but mostly I think they are just not relatable and not very interesting. I do not think anybody would be interested in my porn preferences. There are other things that for now I would not share, maybe in the future.

Horrible advice. All it takes is one over-zealous person to see such a message and then there will be cops at the door.
People should be careful with what they post online. It's a balancing act between total privacy (not using it) and maximum convenience (saying and using it however you want).
If you feel you should not share something online, then don't (and probably shouldn't share in real life either).
