i mean, whatever problems or complications you may be experiencing right now in your life, do they appear in your dreams/nightmares too?

sadly to me it's happened a lot recently, but i was curious to know if anybody else feels this way? no matter how much i sleep, i still wake up the same.

YES AND IT SUCKSSS. I sleep to escape my problems but it's so awful when they follow me into my dreams. My dreams tend to be vivid and weird and sometimes it amplifies my problems and makes them worse than they actually are irl. Sometimes it feels like my mind wants to torture me as much as possible and highlight all of the horrible things that I try to forget about

In Rem phase and while you sleep, your brain processes. Hell of a job. It is about the day emotional and physical stimuli. This includes past events and trauma as well. Your brain is processing information and making sense of stimuli and information bits and bobs to restore to functioning . You dream (that is your brain working basically. Here is something for you whilst I work and do my thing.) and remember or don´t remember it.

It depends on what the processing factory is stumbling upon to determine what happens in your dream. I sometimes have the issues I have shown to me in my dream or i don´t depending on what the operating system is giving me and where it is at or what it refers to.

Fun fact: ptsd is trauma to your brain. Like physical trauma but in your brain. It is caused by events you couldn´t deal with that caused the injury or trauma. It is stored in your brain and since it can´t process it and deal with it or get rid of it on its own, it becomes a blockade. Bricks and stones in the way. Whilst processing the daily stimuli those bricks are in the way . Which affects your sleep quality and causes long term damage and structural change. Those bricks/ blocks of different weight and size will always be there. it might show you what it s processing in the form of a dream. Good or bad. Bad will be what is in one of those bricks for instance causing nightmares.

I´m sorry if I am repetitive or not making sense. It is hard to break a complex topic down for others to understand what you want to say.

Thankfully not. Sleep is my only escape from life temporarily and I'm so glad that it isn't compromised by nightmares yet

I would say Im lucky enough to be able to sleep easily even after having the most horrible day, but sometimes I have nightmares that reflect what Im going through, and sometimes I think I didnt dream anything but I wake up restless like I didnt sleep at all... mornings are hard for me, so I guess that I dont get good sleep.

Yes - I have the same nightmares over and during the day I remember bad things that happed to me before. It feels like a daymare instead of a nightmare if there is such a thing?

Fortunately no, my dreams are the only place where I feel safe.

Sometimes I wake up mentally exhausted, but that's because I realize I'm awake and have to deal with life again.

Dreams are evil; every time I face hardship, I have nightmares about it, but when I enjoy something in life, I don't dream about it.

Yes. When my episodes are bad sleep is no rest from it. The weight is on me as I fall to sleep, through my dreams, and as I wake.

I often get dreams that clearly relate to the problems in my life. Most common reoccurring example is one where all the people I have known have got together in some large area. They are all in little groups spread out. I go from group to group getting ignored, having backs turned on me, some with looks of disgust on their faces.

Often, and it's awful. Especially since sleep used to be my only reprieve.

I can't remember the last time I went to sleep and didn't have a dream about suicide. Usually whenever I sleep I have around three separate dreams, and at least one of those always involves suicide.

Yes, but fortunately not every night. It's more periodically for me, although it can happen randomly too sometimes. I have the same thing as @annxietty too where I'll sometimes wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all exept I'll usually be tired rather than restless unless I wake up with anxiety witch can happen sometimes too.

It sucks bc sleep was always a guaranteed escape for me before, but now that's very much not the case anymore.
It feels like life rly hates me sometimes.

On the contrary, my dreams are more interesting than my actual life. I will have the odd nightmare though.
