I know what you mean. Expensive too. There are still places in the UK I want to visit or revisit but, I'm not sure I have the energy or funds.

I'm probably going to Italy next summer holidays if I make it till then. So I hope that for me, I'll travel abroad again before I die. I want to see as much as I can, being stuck in a shitty country is one of the reasons I don't want to be here. It's quite a depressed society, travelling lets me see how other people live, how better life can be.

No. I haven't traveled much to begin with, just a little bit here in the US. But even a thought of traveling makes me so anxious. There's just too many things to worry about to ever even be able to have a chance to enjoy it. Not to mention that with my OCD, while it has improved here at home I honestly have no idea how I would handle a gross hotel room. Sometimes stuff like that is actually way easier for me than home, but it would be also overstimulating. I don't think I'd make it.

During the pandemic I became suicidal and figured I'd travel abroad right after the pandemic as a last pleasure before CTB.

During the pandemic, I read all kinds of books on how to avoid repeating the typical frustrations I'd undergone while travelling abroad before the pandemic: Getting mugged, harassed by street vendors, scammed, ridiculed or belittled by hostel staff or other "fellow" travellers, chewed up or ridiculed by border agents or customs agents, almost kidnapped (twice), dismissed by women for not knowing what to do about their signals of romantic interest...

Reading and understanding such books took a few months. Getting significant results from applying such knowledge to the real world would take years to master. Years that I'm not willing to spend being alive just for the sake of being overseas for four or five months.

"Shut up and travel already!" some of you might say. However, for me, the already mentioned frustrations will always ruin that beautiful tourist attraction, that exquisite dish, that fun moment, or that memorable interaction with the locals.

As the saying goes: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

Would you CTB by smuggling drugs into China, getting caught and prosecuted by their authorities, and being senteced to death?

A few things to keep in mind: 1.) For reference, smuggling, trafficking, carrying, and/manufacturing over 50 grams of heroine or meth into China will get you sentenced to death by shooting. 2.) Again, for reference, Akmal Shaikh, framed for smuggling 4Kg of heroin into China, after pressure...

I just came back from a long trip to Europe. I'll travel again if I can afford it. I find I learn far more about the world and myself travelling than I can at home. I get into my own little bubble here that is such a small fraction of what is going on out there.

No. I think Ive seen what I want to. I'm too busy focusing on recovery right now but if that doesn't improve my life enough then I'll Ctb.

I wanted to but I don't think I have it in me anymore. Since my attempt last week didn't work out my next (and hopefully final) ctb date is some time in late Feb/ early March and I have no plans to travel before then.

I'm thankful I got to spend any time abroad and instead of using my 401k for travel I'll just leave it for my family

Lol. Hell no. I can't understand why anyone would willingly volunteer themself to be tortured and raped as means to ctb.

A walk into the Siberian tundra for pentobarbital nap is kinda where my mind was at re: travel.
