I personally don't believe in an afterlife or reincarnation, but I wish I did. It would make suicide a lot easier for me. I'm scared of dying. I wish I could be somewhere else instead like Heaven because I hate life here. Maybe I could deal with living in Heaven, in a peaceful world with nothing to worry about. But I know that nothing comes after death.

I have just lost my partner in a tragic accident, I blame myself for not being there and I can't go on without her. I do hope there is an afterlife because I want to go there to be with her and be free of all this s***. I loved her with all my heart but had too many influences which I stupidly listened to.
She loved me so much and I should have been there for her. I have a plan but I wish to lay her to rest first and then I will do it, I've never been so sure of anything in my life. I have had 2 previous failed suicides with overdose and alcohol, ending up on ITU but that was over 10 years ago. This time I will succeed and I will be with her forever

I do think there is some sort of afterlife not reincarnation, though and not hell, I really don't see why a higher power would make a hell or something like that, logically why would you punish someone forever for "Sins" in this short time on a planet it just looks idiotic to me and unethical. I don't know what is after this afterlife or avoid and both are welcomed to me. I have no scientific evidence for an afterlife and don't claim to have any. I can say it is wishfull thinking on my part and I am fine with that personally.

Ethics is humanity made concept. If there is something or some higher Entity we can't really comprehend their motives and actions.
But I don't believe in hell or paradise either.

On the one hand one could say we will all die eventually and whatever comes after death, we will see.

On the other hand, we know that all our activities have consequences for our future and suicide effects our future more than any other deed. So, if our future does not end with our life, we may affect our afterlife with our acts in this life. Something like hell would be a worst-case scenario. Frankly spoken, if I knew that suicides lead me to hell, I would never commit suicide.

So, I studied the latest findings in brain research to find out how probable an afterlife is. My conclusion: It is very unlikely that consciousness or subconsciousness will continue after brain death. I also found, that free will seems to be an illusion. We are not responsible for what we are doing.

So I'm not responsible for ordering Sodium Nitrite off the internet and choosing to mix it into water and drink it? Then what is? Lmao

I've always kinda wondered about this too. Sometimes with deja vu I would be more likely to believe in reincarnation or something like that... but honestly right now I just hope life ends permanently. With nothing afterwards or no repeating etc.

I'm not sure. I wonder why there would be an afterlife for humans when humans are just a collection of cells, same as any other living thing.

I was hoping we would be reunited with the people we have lost and can continue in a kind of spiritual way? Sounds a bit deep maybe. I just know I can't go on any longer like this, just got a few loose ends to tie up and then thats it for me. I have ordered the appropriate things

I don't believe there is, but I wish there was. Also, I want a better life. "I want this, I want that, I want all the pleasures." Yeah, we want it all...

I believe when we die, we die, that's the end of it. Unimaginable, but true.

On the other hand, we think we know so much about how the world works, but we don't know anything. When we die, all the infinite amount of times that come after us will pass in an instant from our point of view. You go lights out. Next moment, heat death of the universe. You'll be skipping forward through all these events, because you won't be there to experience the lapse of time. But what comes after that? No-one knows. Maybe something. Or maybe nothing, because you are dead, and dead forever. Still hard to imagine either way.

I've spent my whole life believing that there is nothing when a human dies, same as a dog, same as a cow, but I guess nobody can know for sure because if you think about it, life is pretty strange in itself. There was nothing and then there was the universe, and billions of years later the life came to be, that also doesn't make any sense.

Why does the universe exists? Was it created? If it was, isn't that hard to assume life could also be created.

Truth is that we will never know for sure before our time, so I guess you can believe in whatever makes you feel best, I for one will be hoping that in the moment I die, I wake up again from my mother's womb ready for another go, hoping I i'll be just a little bit wiser not to commit the same mistakes.

I personally think that reincarnation is possible. There are a lot of books about it, it sounds more reasonable to me than Heaven/Hell

But the chance of being human again is slim. There are so many different species to be born as that's why reincarnation makes no sense

I'll take that chance. I really want to experience a happy human life. It's a shame this one isn't it.

Time doesn't exist.. we made it up.. we don't even use our brains to it's full potential.. most of us are the walking dead.. once our brain and bodies turn off.. consciousness will continue onwards somewhere else.. if you want to believe you could become another apple on the tree then that's fine.. maybe there's a higher level of consciousness out there on a super habitable exoplanet.. use your imagination let it run wild.. because nothingness for eternity is made up.. there is no eternity because again time doesn't even exist we made it up..

Point One: everything, even the universe, gets recycled. If we are information, then it follows that, while not necessarily exactly the same chunk, traces will carry over to additional cyclings of the universe.

Where do I get this? Largely from Roger Penrose, who says that black holes, when they pop, send gravitational ripples out to the point where he expects to see signs from previous universal cyclings.

The mind-boggling thing of all this is set up by the following: our universe will exponentially expand to a heat death, when the last of the black holes have collided and popped off. At that point there will be no mass, with only radiation = photons bopping about. If there is no mass, you have no time—you can only have time if there's mass. Now it isn't that you have nothing, you still have a shape, as per conformal geometry.

So? Well we know from the early days, via the cosmic background radiation, that there was no mass then either. It was just really stinking hot, as opposed to the dead universe, which is stinking cold. The idea is that, some how, the dead universe gets squashed and a new cycle begins, from which we might detect the aforementioned black hole gravitational ripples.

All of this looks like recycling. So "you" never totally disappear is my silly, idiotic jump. Another aside, you're constantly recycled anyway, going through perpetual cell death and rebirth—the whole lot in less than 3 weeks. So, really, there is no fixed "you".

Point Two: no way in hell does any of that mean you will experience the same shit twice, in that nothing that complex can be identical. So yes, other galaxies, other planets & life forms, but nothing exactly as it is now. But will you be able to detect ripples from before? At some point, yes.

Do you think there is a possibility of an afterlife or reincarnation?

One million percent yes - I believe we are all tiny fragments of universal consciousness (some might call it god) and although our physical bodies eventually die, I believe that consciousness is eternal and we never ever die. There's no such thing as nothing (no thing) because nothing can exist without something else being consciously aware of the nothingness. And if that something else exists (in the form of conscious awareness), then it's impossible for nothing to exist. Even an empty black void is something.

It makes more sense for there to be something rather than nothing.

That's just what I believe from my tiny limited perspective in this lifetime that I happen to be living now.

I mean, anything is possible but I'm more confident in the reality of it being no. Still, I vastly prefer the idea of being reborn as a new being than an eternity of biblical heaven or hell.
