If you had an almost-successful attempt, or any near-death experiences in general, did you see anything?

I'm not a religious or really spiritual person. I don't think I could be even if I wanted to. I mean, I do wish there was something after death-- that we're reincarnated, or that our souls go somewhere beautiful. I really want to believe it., but I've always been a really skeptical person. But I guess the thought of nothingness really terrifies me.
I haven't had any experiences where I died and came back... If you do, did you see anything? What was it?

No the only thing i experienced was a voice I didnt recognize within me. Pleading with me to save me. And asking why I would do this. My therapist calls it my body voice. I think it was just SI. But who knows.

personally I haven't, but people have talked about this. some people say they saw a dark tunnel, a light, and a voice... what it sounds like is that a lot of people have some kind of gateway experience, you can even hear soldiers talk about having some kind of bird's eye view of the battlefield before coming back. not an afterlife, but something undeniably there. it terrifies me. i've not had any NDE experiences, but many years ago when i was laying down on my girlfriend's bed in the middle of the day, and i guess i happened to have a really comfy thought where i was imagining going in to a kind of comfy restaurant with a guy in the corner playing a guitar lazily, and it was such a comfy thought that i guess i did the thing where your body falls asleep before your mind does and i heard the stereotypical loud buzzing sound that people commonly hear when their spirit is starting to disconnect from their body (OBE i guess).. it sounded like really loud electric buzzing sound, and the sound snapped me back in to being completely awake and then i instantly realized what happened..

i completely believe in spirit world.. i think incarnation on to this planet is voluntary and it is our choice whether we want to experience an incarnation here or not.. there are various reasons to.. some spirits have particular lessons they want to learn, and others just want to experience physicality etc.. but yeah, so i'm not scared of death.. (it's still scary leading up to the point where i have to CTB though).. but i think we are still conscious energy even after this physical life is over..

I see.. your experience sounds so comforting and peaceful. Your beliefs are very beautiful, I would really like that to be the case and I think it would help me be less afraid of death too.. I'm not ctb but my mental health is unstable enough that it's still scary (and i mean, it's inevitable even if i never ctb, you know?). thank you for sharing, and thank you for the link, very interesting. i wish you nothing but peace and i'm so sorry life was unkind to you. I've od'd on fent twice and i just felt like one does on anesthesia. Nothithing happened i just went to sleep and woke up (once surrounded by emts the next surrounded b my mom and sis). I didn't "see" anything tho(coming from a bipolar with psychotic tendencies also).

Ah ok, that's a good way to describe it. Anesthesia is the closest to nothingness i've felt. i guess that's pretty neutral then

Anaesthesia is the way it felt for me too. There was just nothing. It wasn't like falling asleep where I still have a sense time passing. It was just being in one place and then suddenly another. I was in and out of consciousness many times but I never felt myself fall asleep or wake up at all. It was like snapping in and out of reality. When I was out of reality I didn't perceive anything, no thoughts, no flood of memories, no light or tunnel, nothing. I just ceased to exist in those moments. I hope that's what death is really like. No after life, just pure non-existence.

Well that means you're conscious. I've experienced sleep paralysis a few times and that wasn't fun, but what I had more is dreamless sleep - which to me doesn't sound bad at all. It's like before you were ever born. No thing. There's no awareness so no thought.

Soldiers? Battlefield?
That's still a common aspect of NDE experiences, but modern day humans get a bird's eye view above the car wreck, plane crash, hospital, ambulance, Dairy Queen, lol wherever their death occurs. I don't understand why you don't think this has anything to do with a possible afterlife. I hope you watch or read about some more current NDE stories, even if it makes you shiver, love & peace mate!

After getting hit by the train 8 years ago I was underneath it, bleeding out. My doctor said I was minutes from death according to my blood pressure. It took me a few days to come back to consciousness in the hospital, though I did phase in an out of it.

I did not experience any NDE-like phenomena unfortunately.

I haven't had a near-death experience, but my very first memory is of a woman's hand in the dark, holding a candle. And I saw the exact same thing when I was put under anesthesia for an appendectomy. Honestly, I was surprised when I stumbled upon "Godfather Death" and decided to read it; at the end, it describes a cave filled with burning candles that symbolize people's lives. I suppose my own near-death experience will also involve a woman's hand in the dark, but with a candle that has gone out

That's what I was thinking at first, but again with the soldiers thing if they got pulled back to life the suddenly somehow knew enemy positions, but I don't know. I'm simply relaying things that I have heard other places here.

2 weeks after my mother died I was walking in the woods and thinking of her. All of a sudden her voice came in very clearly into my head and said " It is very beautiful over here, it really is". That was the one and only time I heard her voice since she passed.

On a biological level, when the brain is suffering from injury or running low on oxygen, or whatever, it can absolutely cause hallucinations and dreaming. When people talk about these near-death experience I'd assume they hallucinate, rather than actually see things out there

My own personal story isn't too exciting.
I got sepsis as a teen. my parents found my laying on the floor in the basement. I was in so much pain in the days leading up to it, then when my body gave out and I curled up into a ball on the floor, it felt relieving lmfao. I didn't even realize (or care) i was dying until my parents started panicking that my pulse was barely there and i was unresponsive. There was absolutely no SI to try and yell for help, call an ambulance, etc. I just wanted to go. The drive to the hospital was probably my closest to death. I could not sit upright and every turn/stop had me slumped over hitting my head against the interior, or so my family says. I dont remember much. it was just very dark and calm.
The hospital later told my parents that discovering me on the floor was extremely lucky, as that was me dying. they said i would've had at the very most, half an hour left to live.
I didn't see anything or hear anything, I just felt relief, which was weird after experiencing weeks of constant agony. Hopefully this story can comfort some on their path to CTB.

I don't have the literature here, but comparative research on Near Death Experience (NDE) narratives usually shows that people report to have seen what their respective culture expects to see. So modern western people report they saw a dark tunnel with light at the end, or a sped-up recording of their life playing out before their eyes. These are the typical stereotypes of NDEs we see in pop culture and get influenced by. But these are not at all the experiences from medieval or early modern reports. The people from that time reported, for example, seeing angels sitting on clouds and playing music instruments. So basically the stereotypical heavenly imagery of the time.
