Do you think therapists are hypocrites?

The therapist I'm currently seeing is very liberal and that's ok, that's their worldview and they're entitled to it. However, while this therapist is pro-choice in terms of abortion, they are pro- life when it comes to suicide. Not to get political here, but why is it ok for a woman to abort her child, that has no say so in the matter, but it's not ok for one to choose to end ones life after careful consideration? Seems like a double standard to me.

In my area, any indication of suicidal thoughts is enough to get you sent away for "help". What we have here isn't even a mental hospital. It's more like a holding tank where one is stripped nude and locked up for observation for three days. You don't receive any medications nor therapy. You aren't even seen by a doctor. What good does it do?

I don't even feel like therapy is effective. The only thing it is doing is making my bank account empty! Sometimes I wonder if the therapist is even listening. I don't get any advice or helpful tips or coping strategies anymore. I would like to be able to discuss suicide with my therapist but doing so would lead to incarceration and no real help.

Sorry to rant, but what I'm trying to say is, Isn't it funny how many in the mental health community have no problem with abortion, but we the suffering cannot be allowed to make an informed decision to end our life if we choose to? Something is wrong. Seems like they just want to keep us alive so we keep coming back every week to pay their fee.

Yes it is hypocritical. But their personal and professional lives are at stake if a patient or client CTBs on their watch and they have to prioritize themselves.

The reality is that therapy is just a scam to just profit from people's suffering, it's really disgusting how people get punished simply for being open about suicide which is a perfectly logical option in this hellish world. But I just think that people tell lies about suicide being "irrational" as the society needs slaves, people are brainwashed into believing that suicide is wrong for that reason when it really isn't.

In general, I think therapists just give out platitudes and generic advice for the sake of earning a paycheck, and not because it will work.
