I have written multiple posts lately about how I'm waiting for my cat to go before I ctb. She's 13, so it won't be more than a few years but I just don't know how much longer I can hang on. Luckily, my husband loves the cat more than anything and I've started to rethink things. Maybe leaving my cat will help him cope.

He knows this is coming I've outright told him so. I'm disabled, have mental illness and it's not fair to cry to him all the time and talk about how I want to die. I just want to get it over with, and for him to grieve and move on.

My cat is the only thing stopping me. Thoughts?

This is your body and your life. If you feel like it's time, you are allowed to leave. At least your husband has the cat for a few more years, versus having neither you or the cat in a few years. I hope you find True Peace <3

Thanks for sharing. I completely understand; I have cats too. Big Hugs!

Before getting into that issue; do you have a plan for leaving?

And your husband won't try to stop you or intervene in any way when you make the5 attempt?

I'm sorry for the additional questions. If you feel as though there are no other options and you have a foolproof plan; you have to do what's in your best interest. It's not fair to have to continue to live in so much incurable pain. I think your cat and husband will be a comfort to each other.

Well I won't do it at home. I plan on going to a hotel. Thing is my cat needs medicine 3x a day. My husband is not the most responsible and I don't trust that he will be able to appropriately handle it. I think I just answered my own question.

I just think that only you can decide what is best, but it's really understandable just wishing to be gone when you have your method prepared and it sounds like you've suffered a lot. It certainly can be so tiring feeling trapped here, but anyway I wish you the best of luck.

I have a cat too and she will be cared for when im gone. Its difficult to predict animal longevity. My mums cat lived to 20 and there were two sibling cats somewhere that lived to 36 and 34 respectively. I dont think its always wise to assume your cat will be a healing tool. We dont know how loved ones maybe traumatised when we die because in the end everyone dies.

It might help him cope, but your husband will be extremely devastated in the end. Your cat won't be able to replace you as a person ultimately. So I would say the answer is no. He will be traumatized.

I think it definitely will help him to heal and when your cat crosses over you'll be reunited and maybe your husband can get another cat.
