I have a rifle and shotgun . but it's very difficult to shoot yourself in the head . mostly fear of failure . and then fear of pain. rationally extremely low probability of failure or pain but there are irrational programs neural networks in my brain that can't be removed. and these might tie in to more primitive inborn fear programs in more primitive parts of the brain as in the amygdala and brainstem.

it seems that even some programs in the brainstem can be reprogramed . but knowing how to and then doing the hard work every day is something very difficult

but imo the neocortex can also be reprogrammed but it's likewise very difficult to change the programs or install new ones to compete with the old ones ( habits). install new new habits in place of old destructive habits

I did come across as harsh. I apologize @itsgone2 . I did not intend to be so mean. I have seen more than a few threads assuming this site is mostly American and having very skewed concepts about guns and people's access to them and I let my frustration get the better of me.

Yes and I plan to get more. I have a pistol caliber carbine rifle and I plan on getting an AR-15 and maybe a pistol in the future.

I think if I would have had a gun in some horrible impulsive moments I definitely 100% wouldn't be alive now.

Yes, I own multiple guns and a lot of ammo for those guns. Most of the time one is planted just behind my right hip and screened by my jacket. I have my concealed handgun license so it's all above board. If a cop pulls me over I don't even have to tell them I'm packing.

If I owned a gun right now, I WOULD NOT be alive to type this. That pretty much goes for the last 10 years of my life. Every year has been suicide-worthy and yet I stupidly remain unhappy to the core and alive, with anxiety rising every day. I wish I had a gun so goddamned badly. I'd especially like to take out about 40 politicians and Supreme Court members, while I was at it. Take out the garbage, improve the world. Wishful thinking, of course, too much Secret Service, but a boy can dream.....

It's possible with cost and limitations. Would be limited to rifles and shotguns. Not something I could easily afford nor keep hidden.

I do live in a rural area now, but people close to me know I'm not a hunter. It would raise questions. I could at best go for the shooting pests angle which would be more believable.

But I'd be much more comfortable with a handgun, and that is more difficult and time consuming to pull off here.
