It's simple really, I rather be as oblivious as possible.

Too much negativity who ended who, A major bad thing happened over there. Man accused of said charge.

I get way to anxious mentally and physically basically thinking that I could be next so it's a big nope and keeps me somewhat sane (even tho I think I'm not)

I'm somewhat compelled to be current on news for my work; I cross reference information, all the usual sources.
It's actually not all bad but it seems that mainstream media and certainly internet sources are trying to grab market share through exciting content... things like the Panama canal drying up aren't on their radar, but is on mine.

Yeah, almost every time I visit my parents they have the telly on and watch the news and I am very annoyed about it. Sometimes they have to do it twice or even thrice the day... And that's something I honestly don't understand because they report the exact same things of which they already are aware of. They also share some news articles with me very often that I am not interested about but think I care and read.

USA Today, The Guardian and Reuters. I follow a few political commentators on YouTube (nothing to write home about... keeps me busy though).
I prefer your country's problems to those of mine haha. They feel somewhat more "fixable"

I never used to but I do read the news daily but I think it's all so depressing. So much crime happening everywhere.

At the moment, I mostly read them to kill time when I don't read anything here, except for the recent elections, of course. Sometimes I feel like I'm quite informed, but then others often seem to have much more background knowledge than me and I feel like I'm missing something.

It's much better if you don't. If you must, mainstream news outlets will always be much healthier than social media. All forms of news come with political leaning, but there are many disinformation networks from overseas countries that are employed to manipulate the dialogue, and to make people as angry and as divided as possible. We especially hate the news now because it's in our pocket at all times. This form of news consumption will always be maladjusted.

Only the things that personally affects me, I've never been into fighting the internet culture war.
I either have a strong opinion about the subject, or completely ignores it. I don't want to have an opinion other intends me to have that aren't based on knowledge about subject but are just product of propaganda. I do identify with more "Chud" side of things though.

I always watch the news from my country and international news. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, I need to be informed about what happens every day. At 8pm there are always programmes with summaries of the most important news.

i do try to be aware of the things which most directly affect Me in order to counteract my sorta-step-dad's thinly veiled bigotry. i share anything easy to explain with my mum to try to keep her from falling to it too. i will be less okay if that happens than i am by keeping track of things now

Sounds like your mom is at least slightly more open minded than mine :/ My mom will believe whatever crap the youtube algorithm gives her over anything I have to say. At least from what I can tell she isn't a complete bigot like my step dad though.

i think the only difference is that mine doesn't really check anything like youtube, it's all fed to her from her man. i have the luxury of being able to show evidence of what i say though

I don't watch/read world news. Obviously I feel bad for the horrible things happening in other countries, but if I care about every person and every country, then I'll never have a chance of having a decent life.

I watch TLDR news about the UK since that's where I live and those news can affect my life. I also follow some financial channels so I'm in the loop with news on that regard since I like finances. Other times I manually search for progress on things I care about, like the Renter's Rights legislation.

I don't even watch news of my own home country as it would make me sad, no matter if the news are good or bad. I miss my country. In a lot of ways, it is superior to where I live now but I can't go back since my job doesn't exist there. I hope one day I'll be back, somehow.

I often watch news about Ukraine-Russia because it's something that interests me, but when it comes to other things I try not to watch anything so as not to overload myself with information, especially things that would make me feel bad.
