For a long time I thought I didn't -- I really really struggled, and only recently am I starting to feel like I belong

It's like patch work, nothing is perfect, and I don't feel like I belong everywhere

Not sure at this stage I'm going to stay,

My wings are tired, for once, I can rest on this branch.

Not really. I never have. I don't know how to be normal so people always distance themselves.

Looking back it's happened more than i initially realized.

I don't want to list specifics but I was in a position once where I needed others to help. For years I struggled so badly to find people. Would lose those I did find. I was frustrated and wondered why. Now I see. It was me. It sucks to have been made this way, and taking decades to figure it out.

No, I could never fit in anywhere. I've been told many times that I just don't belong. Idk what to do anymore, I'd rlly like to have a sense of belonging, but it seems so unattainable right now

Earth: Yes. There are probably a lot of places I could have settled into fairly well if certain things had gone differently.

SaSu: Yes. It mostly feels like second nature to navigate this space.

My community: No. We don't really have those here anymore.

My country: No. I live in a special economic zone that is equal parts strip mall, open-air mental institution, and shuttered munitions factory to which people from all over the world arrive in order to make or steal money.

I don't belong on Earth, not the way it is now for sure - stifled under the grotesquely excessive human overpopulation along with all the environmental destruction caused by it, a world that is never quiet or peaceful, and where I've never been able to even see the Milky Way in the night sky with my own eyes.
Also, I sure don't belong in a human body either.

On SaSu, yes, I really like it here, we're all in the same boat somehow, all suffering from this life for various different reasons, all believing in the right of choice whether or not to continue it. People who have been faced with such existential questions tend to think more deeply about them - what is life, what is death, what awaits after, what is consciousness, what is meaning? It doesn't bother me that sometimes people post here only to say their goodbyes, because I know this life is temporary anyway, for all of us, and it's hopefully a better world of peace and freedom awaiting Beyond, and everyone I love is already there.

Locally, I've never been part of any community where I live. There's actually no one who really knows me.
I wouldn't belong in my own country since I've been away for way too long, since my early childhood. And in my country of residence I don't even speak the local language and the locals barely speak English, so I hardly ever get to talk to anyone, all day long, every day. I'm the ultimate stranger, living like a hermit amidst an all too crowded and noisy neighborhood. Even though it's the rural outskirts of town, so it could be (even) worse.

To SaSu, yes, for the most part~ I disagree with some very popular opinions here, but I certainly prefer this place to anywhere else, and given my post count, yeahhh, I think I'm fine here~

beyond here, not really~

I do not even feel like I fit in here let alone any other community I could be considered a part of... at the same time I don't think I would say I ever felt like I didn't belong on Earth in an existential type of way, but I don't think I belong to any specific place or with any specific people on the planet

For a long time I had the feeling I didn't fit in completely anywhere, but I fit in a little bit in many places/with different people. Nowadays I feel like I belong more, because I found my own niche circles of friends. But also because I am older now and my adult life was more normal than my childhood, so I don't feel as detached from most other people as I did when I was 18.
I don't really care, if I fit in my country, because I don't care about the values or opinions of strangers.

I must say, I long for a better world; but Earth is fine in many ways - just dissapointing, often when you consider its human population.
I belong there more or less I'd say; but it's not a place I'd like to remain in forever.
Do I belong in my country? Probably somewhat yes! Sometimes though I feel like our society doesnt quite feel right for me, the food is absolutely amazing, but the politcial, social things are completely different in my own eyes compared to a regular person from here. History-wise I really respect my country, I admire its heroes and people that really devoted themselves to serve it. That doesn't mean that I'd like to die for it, although you can never really know that when we're in time of illusionary peace.
Do I belong on SS? Somewhat! I'm not particularly sewerslidal, but I like this website! Feels kinda unfortunate that so many people I could recognize here dissapeared, but such is life.. and one can't really predict when someone is gonna dissapear (sometimes it's fortunate for them though; they're hopefully in a better place than our Earth..)

i constantly wondered this when i was a little kid if I belonged anywhere or if i would always find my belonging later in life. i am thankful for those that can accept me but the more i think about it the more i'm convinced that maybe i'm just missing the human gene that makes it to connect with others? even if i don't belong on here it's very comforting to know there are people with a similar headspace and problems

I dont, it feels like im too weird for any community and just cant function in society, i should be all alone BUT being alone makes me feel worse, BUT having people around makes me feel even worse any time they have a drastically different worldview than mine... i just cant win ig, damned if i do, damned if i dont

I think the popular idea of 'belonging' --where someone fits effortlessly into their community & never experiences things like awkwardness, alienation, misunderstanding-- is a myth. I don't think it works that way for anybody. Even those you consider to be more successful, popular, they are still human. They still have moments where they feel insecure, they still have moments where they say the wrong thing, they still have their bad days. I guarantee that every human on this earth has felt like they didn't belong at some point.

I've spent my entire life feeling like I didn't belong, in varying degrees. It was much worse when I was younger and extremely isolated. As I've grown older & gotten more control over my own life (moved away from family, supporting myself, making art for my own enjoyment) I've learned that feeling like I belong is largely up to me.

It's really enticing to blame others and live in a fantasy world where you believe that it's the fault of everyone else for excluding you. It provides an easy justification for not having to try to change your circumstances. Trying is scary, and difficult, because it always carries the possibility of failure. It's much easier to give up before you've even started. Or give up after a small number of attempts. This kind of thought loop is very common with depression. I say this from my own personal experience.

Even though I am awkward & mentally ill, I choose to participate in various activities in my community. I keep trying to put myself out there. The more I participate, the more I feel like I belong & that I am accepted by others. I encourage people to go out, get involved with volunteering or a group centered on an activity or game you love. It will take some time, but I can promise you it'll help you feel like you belong.

No, but I do feel that I have come to embrace it better as I have gotten older. I've finally internalized that a lot of people are not all they're cracked up to be. In a lot of social circles, I would not even want to be accepted because it would mean I was as selfish and shallow as the rest of them. I'd rather be alone than suffer that poor company.
