Do you envy people on death row?

I watched a pretty good docu about death row:


The institution does all it can to make it as easy as possible for the guys who will get a lethal injection. They have support. They get a death professionally administered.
What a paradox for us. Does this show we must be in a very dark state of mind if we are envying people on death row?

I understand what you mean to ask with this post, but I would assume that most people on death row don't want to die, so in some sense, I would say that their situation is somewhat unwanted.

i dont and not because of the execution itself. Its because they must have done something vile like killing someone else without a justifiable reason and I dont want to die having that on my conscience

This is absolutely batshit and for some reason rears it's head on here every few months. Why the hell would anybody envy those who live in cramped conditions within a hostile environment for several years before you are executed to satisfy public bloodlust?

This really is a rancid take, to actually consider yourself somehow worse off than *prisoners on actual death row* is about as infantile as it gets, jfc man.

Not at all. Outside of the people on death row not actually wanting to usually die they wait many years often only for it to get delayed. Trapped in small cells that entire time without any slightly enjoyable things at all.

It depends on the death row- some have computers, tv's, books, a much bigger cell, and some even have a cat- some death rows are way better than regular cells.

Wow l didn't know the cells were bigger than the regular cells, this changes everything.

Fwiw l don't disagree in principle with the idea of prisoners having access to pets but the way they keep cats, tethered on bits of string confined to a tiny space for long periods, is not a good way to treat a cat.

I don't envy those on death row, primarily because of what they have been found guilty of doing to get there.

I can say that I do have an envy of the process and the fact that the end is definite and will be carried out with certainty and speed, I'm fed up of failure.

Not at all. They are not in control of their fate, they may or may not wish to die, and they have no say in when or how it happens. Many of us know the fear of staring at death, and that's in a controlled setting by our own hand. Imagine if you were not quite ready yet and prison guards strapped you to a table and began. Wow. Did you see the rooms they had? One guy was watching TV it seems. It's like a regular bedroom they all have. It's unbelievable that serial killers,murderers,rapists, get better treatment than homeless people, who sleep on the ground in a room with 100 other people, yet most often have committed no serious crime. Sure, Maybe many of them are addicts but hey, everyone has coping mechanisms. Some of them are war veterans or mentally ill. They just don't have money. That speaks VOLUMES about the human race imo.

Envy is not quite the right word - but yes - I used to toy with the idea of committing a crime that would result in this outcome. Then rejected on the basis of it being too much work (and who would I kill? A bombing would be preferable as I'd not need to watch the victims - just set it down, walk away, then turn myself in - but I lack the technical knowledge and seeking it out would likely get me flagged by the government before I accomplished my goal) - and started looking into concocting my own lethal injection. Haven't made much progress in that regard, unfortunately.

No. I think prisons are horrible places to be and killing yourself is very different from having your death decided by someone else. I would never want to be murdered especially not in the context of someone judging me as "evil criminal scum". Fuck those people.

Kind of (since other people will do the 'dirty' job for them, SI is out of the equation) but also not really (they have to wait years to get their turn... in a cell. :/ not worth the trade-off for me).

I've done over twenty murders in three US states since the late seventies and the stupid cops still haven't caught me, I've been sending them numerous letters in a simple code any schoolchild could decipher which give away my identity and even daubed PLS STOP ME B4 I KILL AGAIN in my own faeces at the scene more than once, obviously these pro-life pricks are on to me and just like to make me suffer. They're even talking about making a film about the case with Mark Ruffalo, just to rub my nose in it even further.

Anyway I'll give it one more go but after that I'll probably switch methods.

Envy people on death row? Hell no, unless they are fine with the state killing them. And what about wrongfully convicted people there? And what about killers who have a conscience? Their living life must be hell. My own conscience tortures me, and I just regret the bad decisions I've made, never killed anyone.

Unless they are one of the many used as guinea pigs to pilot a new compound drug which caused their blood to boil and their last moments to be in the most hellish of agonies whilst also under a paralysing agent to prevent them exhibiting this discomfort in the presence of observers, then yeah, sure.

Death row prisoners can stay in jail for up to 20 years before dying so no, not really.
Call me a psycho or asshole but yesterday I read on the news that in America, a teenager or young adult died from just taking a SINGLE F'ING FENTANYL TABLET BY ACCIDENT and another (also in America) teenager WHO DIED FROM A SINGLE BULLET TO THE CHEST BY ACCIDENT during a police shootout, I can't fucking acquire drugs, guns, acids to create CO, etc but these fucks were able to just die quickly and painlessly before reaching my age purely by accident
I fucking envy fentanyl girl, how the fuck did she even acquire a single pill strong enough to outright kill her
