Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I am from Germany and I don't care. Political leaders hope for a push in popularity if their country ranks high. I would be interested in the empirical evidence of such a claim.
No. This guy won bronze and then thought to bitch about the condition of the medal itself. But winning bronze is embarrassing. I would have just kept quiet and given it to Goodwill or something.

I think it's a waste of money both hosting it and how much the athletes get in government funding.
There are potholes like WW1 shell craters where I live but no we're not repairing that we need to pay these fuckers thousands to run or cycle in circles in the hope they win a piece of plated metal once every four years.
This is just aimed at the full time athletes though, the ones who have regular jobs and their sport is just a hobby, more power to them.

Only in passing. I do have a lot of respect for the athletes. They have dedicated and sacrificed so much, and worked so hard, to get to where they are. I can barely get out of bed and get dressed most days.

I feel like if you are the kind of person who can push yourself hard enough to become the best of the best in your discipline, it's nothing to do with your country and more about the individual who did all that work. I do think the Olympics are pretty cool, it's nice to see what humans can do if they put their all into it.
My dad said the same exact thing lol. Everyone who wins bronze is just happy to be on the podium, but the people who win silver may think they were just barely not good enough for gold.
Nah, why should I care about the achievements of people who where born on an arbitrary peace of land, that's only connection to me, is that the institution that decided centaury's ago that it had say over me and my life, control both it and the land I live on. Patriotism/Nationalism is just a governments way off controlling empty headed idiots, who want to be told they are right by an institution they where raised up to fear, and bow down to.
So when team GB Wins a medal I feel nothing neither happiness sadness, rather I just don't care. As I feel no Connection to the identity of the people who own the territory I have been born into.
I don't care how my country ranks.
I do enjoy watching people who are really good at their sport perform and compete.
Their speed, skills, and agility are just amazing.
I don't care about my countries standing, but I do find it somewhat positively emotional seeing the underdogs strive and achieve medals. The only athletes I feel very little connection with are those that earn millions for being able to play with a ball or steer a car. No 'job' should be able to demand that much money.

ask yourself why they continously show you this sports garbage and royals of England and 1000's of other meaningless garbage all the time. In the U.S. it's constant with the football baskekball baseball golf tennis etc. what possible meaning could this garbage have , or youtube, news, social media, or anything in the media?
nothing matters anyway but this even less. the only thing that matters is avoiding extreme pain.
I don't dedicate myself to it but I don't mind if my country wins something. I probably won't go boasting about it publicly online but I'd appreciate it. Max I'd is probably pull jokes with my friends if the topic comes at hand.
I don't really care about medals. I have been following the olympics a bit more closely this time around, mostly just because of all of the shit going this year, such as the shit with australian B-girl. Kind of sucks that she has been gaining all the attention when Philip the Wizard's performance was amazing.
