I love the look of tarot cards. I've always found them slightly dark magic, taboo too- which makes them fascinating to me.

I bought a couple of decks a while back- in the hopes that they would somehow give me direction. My Nana felt she was psychic- she did seem to have good intuition sometimes. So, I suppose I also hoped I would have the gift somewhere I could tap in to... Apparently not.

Maybe some people here do genuinely believe or, have experienced things. For those who haven't- do you wish future telling or future guidance felt more reliable? Do you wish you could gaze into a crystal ball and see something clearly? Or pick tarot cards that consistently made sense. Wouldn't it be cool if the appropriate cards glowed or something?

For those with a gift who've tried- do you actually see things in a crystal ball? I imagine all I'd see were the floaters in my eye balls.

Yep, I believe. I have studied a lot of religions, and the paranormal. Mostly because I have had "the gift" most of my life. I do not read tarot ... Or palms ... Though I have purchased a few books on tarot because I think it would be nice to learn one of these days.

So, yeah, I'm a believer ... And practitioner -- I often joke that if I'd been born 250 years ago I'd have probably been that old crone who lived WAY deep in the woods with all her animal friends.

I believe so, even though I might not really understand either of them haha. Usually, when I'm not feeling very stable emotionally, I draw tarot cards to give myself some comfort. I once found a website that interprets natal charts, and I noticed that it seemed to accurately describe all the negative things, but I didn't really feel that the positive ones were true.

I'm sorry to disagree. I don't believe in tarot cards or fortune-telling. I respect those who do, but the idea of predicting my future with cards doesn't really give me much peace of mind. As for religions, I don't have a preference. I believe there is "something" (which some call God or by another name), but I'm neither Catholic nor Protestant nor anything else

If fortune tellers can see the future, how come they haven't played the lottery and won? They should see the numbers for next week's drawing, right?

no I don't believe in anything supernatural , magic , afterlife , reincarnation, soul spirits , computer simulation, fate destiny, multiverses , other dimensions nothing .

I only believe in things that can be tested or for which there is a lot of physical or retestable evidence

also things that can be logically reasoned from first principles

I think that's where a lot of people who are "casual observers" get mysticism, tarot and palm reading, witchcraft, fortune-telling or whatever you want to call it, wrong. It is not about being able to predict the future (and yes there are charlatans out there who will be more than glad to suck the gullible in and take their money who are more than glad to tell you they can predict what is coming).

Of course, that might just me talking out my ass, too. Lol I will be the first one to admit I do not have all the answers. (If I did -- and was a better public speaker 😉 -- I'd own a megachurch in every major American city and own the entire state of Oklahoma ... But, alas ... 😉 Oh well ...

I think we might be similar in philosophies ... I don't know WHAT it is but there IS something after this life that waits for all of us. It is up to each of is to decide if we believe, what we believe in and what we do with that.

I also believe that it is NO ONE'S PLACE to threaten, harass, belittle or in any way attempt to control someone else just because they believe differently than I do. Live and let live kinda deal. But honest to God, Zeus or Odin or any otherworldly asshole out there -- if you get off on harming others, or belittling others, or believe that it is YOUR place to force how you believe on others (Christians and Muslims here's looking at YOU guys ... 🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐) then there isn't a bad enough fate for me to wish on you -- in this world or any other ... 🤷🏻

Tarot Cards are cool, especially as referenced in T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land. But I don't believe they have any special power to provide insight on our lives.

Not really but like learning about them. I had an online tarot reading recently because I'm so fascinated. Loved reading what the lady had to say.

Tarot cards or fortune telling? Nope, not in the traditional sense. However, I cannot with absolute certainty state there is no such thing as being able to foresee the future or engage in telekinesis, etc. Absence of evidence is not truly evidence of absence. Otherwise, nothing would exist until it was discovered, which is categorically false. We are just beginning to delve into the quantum level, which changes concepts of time and structure, even more so than Einstein's time-space continuum. Similarly, I can't say that ghosts do not exist or that time-travellers have not visited earth, etc. I can say the odds are that those things have not happened but for anyone to categorically say something is "impossible" is ego-centric hubris at its worst.

Realistically, modern science has been around for a few hundred years. Let's revisit this issue in another 400 years and compare what we think we know now, with what we actually know then. I think the difference will be astounding.

Of course these methods can't predict future or discover truths by themselves, but they're a fascinating cultural phenomenon (when they aren't used for scamming people or out of blind superstition), and I think they can sometimes be used to explore psychological realities (Jung famously saw tarots this way).

I like the tarot stuff but I don't believe in it. I did pay a psychic once and she gave me a prediction about my future career that was sufficiently broad that it could apply to almost anything.

I've never believed in Tarot, fortune-telling, or mysticism in general. I view it purely as entertainment - nothing more. With that in mind, I bought myself a cat-themed Tarot deck; they're very cute 💕

Yes. I have multiple tarot decks. I go to it for guidance sometimes. I pray before a reading that God would show me what He wants to show me. Sometimes He gives me an answer and sometimes He doesn't. That being said I would never base a major life decision solely on pulling some tarot cards. For those of you interested in tarot I recommend the Rider Waite deck as a good starting deck.
