Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I'm assuming no seeing as how we're all planning on ctb'ing but I'm interested in hearing everyone's experiences because I always felt like having the police come to your house made you no longer want to get help.

Not for me as I have an underlying health condition which puts me in severe pain and will kill me soon. Can't see a hotline helping. It can help the likes of teenagers after a breakup and in a state of rage and depression. Those hotlines can never help people with real problems.
I feel like lots of people say problems can be fixed. It might be true, but does that dim hope really justify years of torment and suffering, and can we really expect people to sustain their hopes after persistent disappointment...

Hotlines serve a specific purpose. Most people who are "suicidal" feel that way due to some temporary stress that will eventually go away. Studies have shown that if these kinds of people call a hotline and can be talked out of immediate suicide, they often wake up the next day and are no longer suicidal.
Hotlines are not for people with serious, chronic problems.
If I called a hotline, it would be like:
"Hello, why are you feeling sad?"
"I've been disabled for over 10 years due to serious health issues."
"Well isn't there something to live for?"
"I have to spend most of my time lying in bed, sometimes with earplugs and an eyemask on because my body is so sensitive."
"Well why don't you look at the positive side of things???"
"I also have a feeding tube because my digestive system doesn't work, so I can't even enjoy food."
"But isn't life amazing?"
"BITCH, are you fucking deaf???"
"You don't have to be so rude, asshole. Go fucking kill yourself!"
lol

You're joking but that's pretty much close to my life lol. My mother, the doctors, nurses, ex friends pretty much said that shit. Being surrounded by obnoxious morons just made me want to die more.

I kinda get why people are like that though, it's just a coping mechanism to hide or hinder their true feelings and sadness. My family is the same, they do support me, but when they say something positive, I can hear it from their voices that they don't even believe it themselves. Basically it's the hardest thing in the world to realize that you are powerless and this time you cannot help someone or be helped. That's exactly why people commit suicide, the textbook reason.
At least one perk of having a chronic health problem is that you don't have to feel as guilty for ending your life, because you have a real problem that you can state in your final note and if people still won't get it after you have died, they are just selfish and then it's really just about them, not you.

Its really not that hard to say "I am sorry you are suffering this way but respect your decision to eend your life." Ive had to do it before, its hard but it's a lot kinder. Instead all I got were platitudes and the copss called on me once. True friendship is about respect, it costs a person nothing to have basic respect for others. These people have none.

I'm same here sounds stupid but I wished I had depression to see if I could at least fight it and then the thought of opening up to to someone and expressing my emotions might help but jones the chronic illness scenario and no matter how much talking it simply can't be helped .. I'm one of those when they say suicidal people don't want to die they just want to end the pain .. really really don't want to die but suffering too much to live

I've called before but the conversation is quickly turned towards confirmation you are not in immediate danger, and if you are not staring down the barrel with a shaking hand, please clear the lines for other callers.
Suicide hotlines are for people who wish to be talked into being saved.
If you're looking to freely talk about your feelings, you're already in the right place.
A suicide hotline is not going to help me-I am in chronic pain. So unless the person from the hotline can give me a load of morphine delivered to my house there is no point

I called one a couple years ago out of curiosity. The guy sounded like a complete douche and wanted off the phone. He had no interest in hearing my life story. Asked if I was in the process of attempting. I said no. Then he advises me to get some rest.
try to find what you are looking for you don't sound like you need to go yet but when you do today or 100 years from today I hope you have a peaceful exit
I called an LGBT one once (in my city) and they didn't call the cops which was nice. But they clearly had a time limit of 13-15 minutes; after that time they started making obvious movements toward "well can you call your therapist now/use coping methods?" etc. So really not helpful.

if you are going to be around for a while try starting a lgbt helpline of your own with no time limit it would be hard work but rewarding and it is doable
