Anyone got this on their medical records?
I feel if I do get worse this Long term covid ( I'm sure not getting better) I might get it put on my medical records.
I wouldn't want a life wheelchair bound,or in a coma. So if I have a heart attack i Wish not to be resuscitated.
All the family know. If in a coma they can have my organs, happy to help someone in my own death.

For DNR, (or ADRT here in the UK).. I'm pretty sure both have the caveat about being in sound mind.

I'm pretty sure a DNR/ADRT can be ignored in a CTB attempt due to the sound mind clause but I would look into it more closely if you are relying on it.

Yeah I doubt it.. Amy history of depression or such will likely invalidate one I would guess.

Maybe try YouTube? Loads of real lawyers breaking down stuff, I'm sure some cover UK and US health law.

A girl I was friends with from the adolescent psych unit I was in, killed herself drinking antifreeze in the UK. She had BPD and went to the hospital to be made comfortable and to not have to die alone. I can't believe the Dr's allowed her to too it. Was pretty controversial! She had gone to a solicitor who drew up a living will to say she had capacity and wanted to be allowed to die comfortably. It was in 2007. Her name was Kerry Wooltorton. If you google her you will find numerous reports/journals/opinions on her.

I wrote my advanced decision with acknowledgement of my consultant psychiatrist and care coordinator. They know I'm suicidal, but they determined I still have capacity to decide my future treatment. They clearly understood my intent - I included all physical interventions, medications and supportive treatments which would be used for SN or N poisoning (including methylene blue).

It can only be overridden (in the UK) if you've been detained under the mental health act (or by anyone you've appointed as your power of attorney after you put the AD in place - so make sure you do this in the correct order). The exception to this is ECT… they can't force that on you unless it's life saving. Just make sure you're specific with the treatments you don't want, and it's properly signed and registered with your GP.

These guys prepare them for free (but if you can, try to donate an amount to cover it) https://compassionindying.org.uk/how-we-can-help/

My knowledge on the matter is from movies and stuff but I was SHOOK to read stories here that medical professionals ignoring those. Apparently they claim saving your life trumps letting you die. Unless there is someone vigorously fighting on your side threatening with suing they endup ignoring them. I didn't even know there was this much hassle to get a documented DNR.

Yep, EMTs are pretty famous on the states for ignoring DNR's and they are allowed to pretty much any time they want. You can spin almost any situation that they show up as "life saving" in our courts, just by virtue of them having been called.
If you have a lawyer standing over your dying body waving your DNR and screaming you might have a chance, but it's better to just make sure that the ambulance is never called in the first place.

It really depends on the legal system of your country. Here, doctors can freely disrespect it without consequence (can literally assume you would change your mind in that circumstance). You have to have 2 doctors sign it (1 GP and 1 specialist) and you have to hand deliver it to all hospitals you may end up at, a process that many are not equipped for. It also has to be extremely specific so any rule-lawyering of "hah, he declined the less invasive life saving treatment, time for medieval torture!" is not only allowed but actively encouraged by the law. Here a doctor will likely not get into trouble even if he fucks up, like clearly intentionally fucks up and you die as a result. That is honestly the alternative, just find the most incompetent surgeon when you wanna die lol.

Also if they already start saving your life before being notified (hard to know about the existence of a piece of paper somewhere in an archive), they legally cannot stop.

In the end it is completely useless and will just flag you as a nutcase, that is if you manage to get it in the first place, causing more harm in the end.
