Dirty Dancing star's mother's CTB

I don't know if I'm allowed to post links to news articles here, so I will just describe the article I saw today. I don't want to violate the rules. Jennifer Grey was an actress in the movie Dirty Dancing. Her mother passed away on the 4th of July after receiving a cancer diagnosis a week prior. The actress said her mother passed away "by her own choosing, on her own terms, exactly as she lived." She said "True to who she was, she chose grace over fear, understanding that leaving this world with dignity is an honor, not a tragedy," The article doesn't say how she did it or if she went to a place where physician assisted suicide is legal.

Intellectually I understand people being anti-choice when it comes to CTB over life's difficulties. But I can't wrap my head around people who think that people who get a cancer diagnosis should be forced to live through pain, suffering, and a loss of dignity. Physician assisted suicide is illegal in my state and in most states. I don't see that ever changing. If I ever get in that position some day I will be forced to either endure it or CTB myself using some method that is either painful or risky. It makes me so angry.

Death with Dignity is not legal in my state either BUT Oregon and Vermont will allow non residents.

The problem is getting to one of those states if you are really sick

Even with a terminal diagnosis it does not guarantee you death with dignity/ MAID. As there are very specific requirements one must meet to be eligible; such as a specific amount of time left to live despite the amount of pain torture. I joined this forum specifically to find my own way to ctb as unable to qualify and access MAID now. On a side note, growing up Jennifer Grey was a favorite. Dirty dancing is an all time favorite movie of mine forever.

True, but people have done it. Usually when person is told they have less than six months to live they aren't that bad yet but know what's coming. So you need to get the ball rolling quickly before the real suffering hits.
