My anxiety is at screaming point yet again. It seems to me that so-called modern life is purposely designed to get on your nerves as much as possible. Even the simplest of tasks are made harder, even though they are supposedly made easier by modern technology. I am in my 50s and cant be bothered with all this smartphone, cashless bullshit etc, etc. I have always paid in cash, do not own a smartphone and have always used paper forms etc. I have just spent 5 hours trying to renew my driving licence online because applications by paper are taking up to 2 months to arrive. Trying online is a fucking nightmare, all I keep getting are constant screen timeouts, cannot find your details messages etc etc. Is it just me overeacting in my usual hyper-anxious mindset, or is technology on the whole a bit of a cunt.

That sounds so awful and stressful what you are going through. To me it is terrible how so many things can go wrong in life, and it seems as though life is just unnecessary suffering. I understand why you would be so frustrated.

Technology Is The Best Thing That Happened To Mankind, it's just a shame that the majority humanity doesn't even know how a calculator calculates i.e full adder and two's complement, humans are dumb as shit and their children are even worse

Sad to say but this tech immersion is only on the increase. More and more our lives will be dominated and controlled through this digital space. We are losing our humanity—I'm with you—it's beyond frustrating. Makes me wanna go complexly off-grid with zero electricity. Most of us are too far gone and lost inside this technological bubble though—there's no turning back.

I have a mensa rated IQ of 150. Technology is taking over peoples capabilities to think for themselves. Plenty of idiots out there who dont even know how to drive without a satnav, or live without a smartphone, ( they should actually be called dumb phones ). Cannot wait for the imminent collapse of society and watch all the phone addicts whining because the whole electrical infrastructure goes down. Winter 2022 shall be fun.

Its not just you. I'm in the 50+ club as well and was relatively tech savvy in the PC age, but smartphones are annoying af. Everything seems to be more needlessly complicated that it has to be and typically lacks any labeling for icons that you are apparently just supposed to know what they mean and what they do. I have a smartphone as it is pretty much a necessity to function in the current world of seeking employment but limit it to only those things that I am required to use it for.

Today I have a perfect example of how crappy all this automated wondertech is as the website for UPS says I don't yet have a first day of work scheduled and no date is currently available, yet I just received a text and email reminding me my first day of work starts tomorrow. 😤

yes but can you do gcse level math
ax = 3,
ay = 1,
az = 2,

The magnitude (length) of the vector is,

length = sqrt((ax * ax) + (ay * ay) + (az * az))
length = sqrt(9 + 1 + 4) = 3.742

Given vector a its xyz components are calculated as follows
x = ax/length
y = ay/length
z = az/length

As a "worked example" the vector shown in figure 1 has the xyz components of 3, 1, 2 and a length of 3.742. Therefore, a normalized copy of the vector will have components,

x = 3.0 / 3.742 = 0.802
y = 1.0 / 3.742 = 0.267
z = 2.0 / 3.742 = 0.534

radius R
diameter d = 2 * r
circumference = pi * diameter
area of a disk = pi * r^2
surface area 4* pi * r^2
enclosed volume V = 4/3 * r^3 *pi
volume formula for the sphere= (4/3)*pi*r^3

the symbols
r=radius
pi=3.14159

I try to be understanding of change and the distinct possibility that it might be a "me" problem, but there are so many basic skills that have been supplanted by the wonders of technology it seems like a large scale power/net collapse would paralyze humanity.

No. I only learned basic maths and English because even at a very young age, I could see that Schools were nothing but brainwashing centres that taught children how to be slaves and obey. This is to condition the child, so that the child will be ready for a lifetime of wage slavery when it leaves school. I was constantly harrassed by Teachers to use my potential because they knew that I could do way better than my very low grades, but I failed everything on purpose because I knew that I would never lead a so-called normal wage slave life. I learned Motorcycle mechanics from my Dad and renovated bikes and sold them at a profit without ever paying tax, and worked when I wanted, doing something I love.

well i agree with you about condition the kids what i wanted has a child is to be taught electronics maths and computer programming by the school system but they don't do that here in the uk, if i was free to change society i would be teaching the children how technology works from the age of 5 onwards that way by the time your 30 you master it then you won't have to be a wage slave because you'll be able to create something used by millions of pepole, my paents didn't teach me anything they was useless work should be something you love doing i love computers and maths

i do get this weird feeling of sadness that i can't really explain why when i come down to my living room and see my nearly 70 year old father deep into the same hypnotic cycle of smartphones and social media that the rest of us are. i will walk past him and mum, not talking to one anotjer on the weekends, not going anywhere, but both on their phone.

At least when the masses where religious nutjobs they got a fuzzy feeling about the afterlife, now we are all hypnotized all the same but life ends and that´s it. We´ve been shafted.
