Currently sat on a train that has had to stop in the middle of nowhere after an announcement was made that someone has been hit by a train further down the line.

Hearing this just makes me feel more suicidal and want to go for it myself as I could be waiting here for a few hours now until the train line further down is cleared.

Do things like this annoy other people and maybe it's a selfish way to CTB?

Damn, that sounds pretty crazy. Hope it all gets cleared for you guys. I don't believe it's selfish per say, just depends on the situation Imo.

Being hit by a train is definitely a horrific ctb method, someone must really have no other options to take it. I personally wouldn't, after all it would traumatise the driver, but I would place fault instead on the people who make ctb as unnecessarily difficult and horrendous as this. I hope that you find peace soon, you must be very distressed.

This method must really take some balls though!

The driver will definitely be traumatised seeing it happen and then there's the people who have to come clean the tracks, pick up all the body parts.

No, it's not selfish the fact that someone didn't have access to a more peaceful method, so out of desperation they felt like they had no choice but to resort to the train method. As long as there is no reliable and peaceful way to exit easily avaliable, it's insensitive to complain about people using the train method. But that method is terrifying to me and that person certainly was so courageous to end their suffering in that way. At least they found the freedom that they were searching for.

I've mentioned this in other threads about the train method, sometimes the driver is so traumatised they ctb themselves. It's not fair to involve other people IMO.

But the train method delays people and causes trauma for train drivers that seems selfish surely they could have just jumped from a high building for the same level of impact to move on and not hinder anyone else in the process

This happened to me just before Christmas.

My journey was delayed by about 5 hours. Most people were pissed off that they were delayed, no one really cared that someone had just died.

This situation happened to me although not with a person. We were on a train coming back from Scotland when suddenly it came to a crashing stop. Apparently a flock of sheep strayed on to the line and were killed by the train. I remember the smell was awful. It took hours for us to get going again but on another train as ours was damaged.
whilst this method of ctb is undoubtedly quick, it's going to be very messy and cause the driver and other people ptsd

Insensitive to complain? There are plenty of free ways to CTB without traumatizing other people. I support every adult's right to CTB but just because your life might be hell doesn't mean it's okay to make other people's so, too. Whether it's the driver, the people who have to clean up after you, or even people who have somewhere to be and get stuck in the middle of nowhere for a few hours.

Don't use this method.

Any method could potentially traumatise someone.

I'm surprised that they said that someone was hit. Usually they just call it "operational disruptions". Or did the police came and told it?

The announcer said "someone has been hit by a train in the Northallerton area and emergency services are on route, expect delay of over 1 hour."

I am still on the delayed train

I'm surprised that they actually said it. Here in Ireland, it's policy not to explicitly say that it was a suicide. They simply say "there was an incident on the track." or something like that.

Regardless, this is why CTBing with a train is not a good way to go. Besides the potential for a horrific death, one will cause enormous inconvenience to many other people. Also, some poor souls will have to clean up the mess left behind.

True, but train suicides traumatize/inconvenience many people (not just the person who discovers you) and are way more gory than other methods.

That's crazy. When this happened to me in December, the person who jumped infront of a train back then was at Northallerton. Two suicides near the same spot with a few months apart.

Here's the news article back from December. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/23179157.person-dies-train-tracks-york-newcastle/

I experienced something similar on an Amtrak in the middle of the night in the US. It's an eerie feeling and also upsetting to be delayed.
