I feel great — after 80 hours without eating, I've slimmed down, ate a delicious spaghetti, and I'm in a good mood. How about you B?

Nicely done, Amor. You sound like you know what you're doing when it comes to fasting, so I'm curious: What do you do to avoid gaining refeeding/catch-up fat? After the body gets food again and comes out of adaptive thermogenesis, the metabolism adapts to prepare for the "next episode" of starvation, and does its best to store more fat than usual whenever it gets nutrients. Does that just not happen for you?

Hey Arvayn
It's normal to regain at least 1 kg — last time I lost 9 kg and regained 2 kg in a week, but that's mostly water weight
You can't eat refined carbs like wheat flour to break the fast. Drink lemon juice with a pinch of salt, wait 20 minutes, then eat 1 boiled egg. Only after 1 hour, eat a normal meal — but reduce carbs a lot and include much more protein and healthy fat. Don't eat a full portion like you normally would — eat half of that. You'll notice you don't need to eat as much; the body gets used to burning fat.

Ah, that is very practical. I am impressed with your nutritional knowledge. Yes, it makes sense that you'd avoid carbohydrates for a while, and I can vouch from my own experience that appetite tends to drop. I've been working on trying to get it fired up again.

After fasting, we tend to stop eating impulsively — sometimes it's not even hunger, just wanting to taste something.

A lot of people can't handle fasting because they don't drink enough water and don't add electrolytes. Sodium helps a lot, but ideally you should have magnesium and potassium too — with those, weakness doesn't hit as hard.

Aren't you feeling any cravings at all? Like, not even for pizza?

Nope, no cravings. I starved myself last year for quite a long time due to major depression and rather extreme anhedonia, and also went into shock more than a few times, some of which had me hospitalized. It did a number on my digestive system.
I essentially force myself to eat despite not feeling hungry. I know that my body is hungry after I haven't eaten for days, but I just don't feel it at all, you know?

Of course, I've been working on recovering for the past few months, and it's going well. I am at least putting weight back on.
