I can't wait for the real cold weather to settle in here. The city gives off heat. It's known as the heat island effect.Still the average high during December and January should be around 3 or 4° C.

If it was up to me I would just have it be freezing cold for the rest of my life. I'm fine with wearing jumpers and jackets for the rest of my days. I just despise working in the heat and getting sun burn really bad because of my white skin.

You guys probably didn't have ceiling fans in your bedrooms growing up, or did you? I couldn't live without one, even with it it's unbelievably stuffy. I guess it was normal to open your windows back then to catch that nice nightly breeze (well, probably not in your area but you know what I mean). Even if I did grow up in that era I most likely wouldn't have done that though, knowing my luck a shit tonne of spiders would get in . Kinda hard to believe there wasn't more break and enters back then even in your safer communities.

God they have some shit on the radio, doof doof music and ridiculous talk shows, not sure who listens to some of these jokers but clearly people do. They had an interview with this woman who got a sample of her husband's sperm within 24 hours of him dying in a car crash and had his baby. How people think stuff like that is normal is beyond me, not to mention I didn't even know something like that was possible, they think of everything these days I tell ya...

AM radio here has 2 24/7 All news stations, WFAN....an all sports station and 2 talk radio stations that mostly have conservative talk shows with hosts like Mark Levin and Bill Oreilly.
I haven't listened to FM since WlLIR/WDRE went off the air in 2000.




This was an incredible radio station. One of a kind. While every other station was playing Journey,Styx,Boz Scaggs, the Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, etc.....these guys played nothing but new wave in all it's forms. AFAIK, there no was other radio station on earth like it. This is what I grew up listening to. WLIR---Dare to be different.

I'm wracking my brain trying to remember who she was. The female DJs I knew were Malibu Sue, Donna Donna, Jodi Vale and Sharon at the Shore. I'd have to do more research to see who that one was. You're right, she had a soothing voice.

I'm thinking about getting back into reading again to cure my boredom but that means that I would have to make a trip down to one of the bookstores which is like an hours walk away because the local library has nothing I want . Thanks for that. I googled her name but there's a few people that pop up so im not even gonna bother guessing which one she is. I find it fascinating to listen to only somebody's voice on the radio and then matching that up with their appearance. It's amazing how many people look nothing like you'd expect them to based on their voice.
