Solubility is one thing , viscosity is another , and it shouldn't have caused that . I can't speculate , sounds like gag reflex from stomach and throat receptors -- tightening of upper esophagus sphincter and/or perhaps constriction of pharynx -- similar to (but not the same as) allergic reaction .
I wouldn't have said there is nothing to be learned because of the saltiness , nausea , and dizziness , which are quite unique . Members mentioned SN burps and I had salty burps (with some regurgitative aftertaste). But I wouldn't recommend making it a practice . Death from 20g NaCl is rare and mitigated by water intake , though avoid if renal problems , hypertension , heart , etc -- research your conditions first and try smaller amounts (like 10g) . Salts are old practice for constipation so this not something new , though not all salts are the same , and this practice is discouraged due to side effects etc .
