Could you travel to the US and buy a gun?

Could I, a non american, travel as to the US and buy a shotgun. A work collegue was born in cali and told me it would be possible in certain states, but wasnt 100% sure himself.

You can buy a gun through a 3rd party like craisglist or facebook marketplace without a backround check or permit in many states. Here is a link to the laws in each state. Yes. Some states dont have backround checks for a private sale. Only at gun dealers since those are federally mandated. Private sales can be vveerrryy lenient.
