  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

It sounds like there can be some question in these cases about whether it's suicide or homicide and that perhaps there's little incentive to differentiate. If it was suicide, it seems as if people who are in prison or jail can be in such a desperate situation that they can overcome SI in ways the rest of us can't.

Very much doubt it.
Homicide and the coroner DGAF or is actively covering it up.
Sad.

If it's an ankle sock, it's possible he shoved it down his throat and it got stuck halfway down. Cellmate didn't care and he died by the time guards reached him.

I'd love to see the future where lawmakers start trying to ban all socks for their potential as a suicide method. Would be funny.

Doesn't have enough detail on this new method?
Like gag reflexes, how long it takes. I mean I have sock right now, but will I be so lucky succeeding?

Be wary of scams, guys. Check the peaceful sock handbook before running out and buying a 3-pack at Walmart.

I think was already scammed with my potentially ineffective socks already present.

Thjisis a person who was very determined to leave. There have been similar ones in prison using plastic bags- this takes a lot of determination and a willingnesss to suffer, but it can be done.

This makes me feel a little silly knowing I could kill myself with almost everything around me, but I'm too afraid of the pain. I wish I had that sort of determination

A method like that would only happen in prison because outside people have better alternatives, like a rope or something similar.

Even the rope is too scary for me. Too much room for failure. I feel so terrible for that prison inmate, although it was probably brutal up until the end I hope they found themselves in a better place- whatever that may or may not be

A rope for partial fails most of the time, but for full suspension, if done right, it works alsmot all the time, but it is a terrifying method, you dno't know how long you'll be there- some people survive when rescued after twenty minutes. MOst methods for ctb are really scary in one way or another. Maybe you just have some hope somewhere that you don't want to give up on, which that could be a good thing.

I've been thinking about partial suspension but it seems so hard to get right. I also don't want to leave my family with that last image of me. I wish this wasn't all so difficult- I just want N :(

Several people here have failed partil 15 - 25 times, and then you have to epxlain the marks on your neck that take a few days to fade sometimes. It sounds like your family may care some, can they help some?

I don't think so. They'll just stick me in inpatient again. I went three times and the suicidal thoughts never went away :(

I repeat that whoever wants to kill himself always finds a way, but in this case I don't fully trust that it was suicide there are many lies inside the jail

this method is only viable when you are desperate and have no choice. if you don't even have a sock then you can cut your veins with your own nails and honestly i would better prefer this over painfully choking on something stuffed in my throat
