Tbh I really hate the fact that people that are delusional/psychotic/verbally aggressive/ all 3 still have to fully consent to being institutionalized, but a suicidal person regardless of perceived sanity is immediately hospitalized against their will. Why does a person that isn't even attached to reality have more rights than us?? Idk I know it's a shitty thing to think but frankly it pisses me off
Like somehow even someone who is verbally aggressive and confrontational still has the right to refuse hospitalization and treatment, but god forbid u want to ctb BAM ur locked against ur will and all ur stuff is taken from u.

Oh man, I've been rejected care like 5 times from hospitals when I was in the throes of manic/psychotic episodes. Like I had the smallest bit of self awareness to know I was unwell and needed serious intervention, but I was not able to receive the help I desperately needed because I admitted upon being asked that I had no desire to hurt myself or other people. So because I wasn't actively about to kill myself, or hurt myself or other people, I was turned away even though I was completely fucked up and suffering from delusions, psychosis, paranoia, hearing voices, etc. Its really messed up. I have a lot of resentment towards the health care system.

I guess it's because "delusionality" and "verbally aggressive" are hard to define; are religious people who think god talks to them delusional? Are people who had a bad day and little mean now "verbally aggressive", there isnt just enough room and resources for locking up everybody like that, so they just focus on the most urgent situations like suicidality + if you're enough delusional/psychotic/verbally aggressive, they will lock you up if they think you could be harm to yourself or others
