Concerns about my pets after I complete

I am in the process of organizining my suicide. I have chosen to take sodium nitrate. I am not too sure of what else to take to make it as painless and struggle free as possible, but I am doing my research.

My main concern are my sweet pet cats. My family is nice, they are good people but terrible pet owners. I know they won't look after them the way they are accostumed. My cats are indoor animals who hace been endlessly spoiled and love people. My parents and brother will throw them outside, feed them sure but nothing else. And I don't have friends so there aren't other options.

As I plan this, a dark and unexpected thought is that I should take them with me, but it's too terrible to explore. They aren't an extension of me and they are alive.

Please help me with your opinions and thoughts.

Perhaps you could leave a note asking that they be rehomed through a shelter? I know of at least one person whose cat was adopted into a very loving home after they passed. The shelters do really thorough vetting so you could be sure they'd most likely go to a great home. I'm really sorry you have to deal with these worries. I have four cats, and it's something I've been thinking about too.

Please don't take your cats with you. It's unethical for the reasons you mentioned.

I guess you could talk to animal shelters around you and see if they're willing to take them in if you're not able to find people to adopt them.

I'm sorry your suffering has led you to this. You are a caring person to think of your cats' well-being. I hope for the best for you and your cats.

Yes. Apologies, English isn't my first language and I mix up the words in my brain, but I do have the correct substance.

Sadly, my country does not have animal shelters apart from the places that catches strays and puts them down. My little ones would not make it on the street anyway, they are too sheltered and used to my care.

No need to apologise, my friend, people often mix up the two. It's good that you've got the correct salt.

Aww! That's very sad to hear. Even the town in the Third World hellhole I live in has moved away from the practice of putting down stray dogs & cats, and now vaccinates & sterilises them, before releasing them.

I think the only option left if you cannot find people to adopt them in time is to let your family take care of them, even if they are sent outside the house.

I guess you can write a note expressing your last wish for your family to take care of your cats after you're gone. That may make them feel the best way to remember you is to take good care of your little pets.

I had a similar dilemma. I'm ready. My dog is 14. I thought I'd take her with me but then thought no that's murder. It's wrong. Its my life I want ended. I don't get to choose that for her. I will leave lots of food and water in different parts inside and outside the house. She can go the bathroom out back. I don't want to leave a proper suicide note but I think I'll leave a short note that my dog should be given to a friend (I'll leave her name, phone #, email).

Make sure you rehome them before ctb. If you leave it up to them the worst will probably happen. I was suicidal and trusted my mom to care for my cat. The cat ended up living in a van then when it got too cold she gave her away to strangers in a trailer park. Every day I regret not handling it myself and trusting her.

Yes. I think that will be the safest choice for them. I'll have to find them a home even if they don't end up together, I want them to be loved and cared for the way they're used to.

What about your closet friend , parents. Have u convince yourself to let them mourn too. There will be no turning back once u suicide ,pls dont act on impulse.

I do feel bad for doing this to my parents. However, being alive because of them only is not doable at this point. For a long time I thought I would wait for them to pasa away but it's a wait I cannot handle.

This isn't an impulse, it's something I have thought about and planed for a very long time. Years really. I put it off trying to find a reason to live but there's none and I can't keep waiting.
