Eric's old website what he hated was definitely one of the things that you could easily argue was contempt before his slayings with Dylan. Eric had a strong hatred towards just about anyone. People who were mentally retarded, were fans of Star Wars, mispronounced words, and it just continues. What you could imagine someone hating at his age, you'd probably be right.
Dylan suffered with depression and it seems clear he was easily manipulated by Eric to do the mass killings. I do believe that Dylan was manipulated under Eric's wing on that day. Dylan's journal just outlines any depressed person but as you go deeper in it, around page 40 or so, it takes a turn. You can see Dylan's language start to become what Eric would write about on his website. You even see how obsessed Dylan got with the outfit he was going to have before he entered the school.
I wish that the PD that was underlooking the investigation didn't destroy any of the basement tapes. There is a full witness account from the police officer that you can read online but it isn't a transcript. Perhaps we'd have a better understanding of that day.
It's very heartbreaking and a tragic story. Words really can't even begin to describe how emotional that must be for anyone. As another person uttered in this thread, if you're suicidal, don't take it out on anyone else.

I think Eric was mentally ill and Dylan probably a little deficient. That was likely what solidified their bond, along with their incessant nihilism and perceived mockery from their peers. I don't know to what degree they were actually bullied but I get the feeling Dylan was a little more submissive, and was easily influenced by Eric who came off as a legit psychopath. They developed delusions of grandeur and fed off each other's hopelessness and refusal to grow up.
I don't know how anyone can think this is anything other than an awful tragedy. Sometimes we get people on here who seem to have sympathy for shooters like Eric and Dylan which is totally beyond me. There's just no excuse for standing behind that.

I think taking the lives of others and then killing yourself, is just stupid.
I was a trucker up until my last stunt(when they finally declared me to mentally unstable to operate one), and I would constantly daydream about popping that truck into neutral on a steep downhill, undoing my seatbelt, and let it do what it wants to do, which was hopefully kill me.
The only thing that stopped me, was knowing that I could kill innocent people, especially little kids. So I couldn't, and wouldn't do it.

I remember when this happened. It was such a shock. I think it's terrible. I can't believe how many more shootings have occurred at schools since columbine. I actually remember seeing it on the TV news. I was a different person then. I guess it's scary & sad.

I presume some people who ctb out of anger vs depression are so angry they need to take out others with them.
While I can understand anger, killing innocent people is idiotic.

I was reading the comments and maybe mine might be very different. I like this massacre. I can feel them releasing all the anger and hatred they kept inside themselves, I do not like the idea of killing innocent people but I wonder. Who is innocent these days? It's scary to see the scenes and at the same time it's so beautiful.

I think it is a tragedy and quite horrible that people were killed. I recall there being a similar thread on reddit (back in the days of r/SS before it was banned) and it discussed something similar. Anyways, I'm on board with the majority of people's opinions on this, that it is WRONG to take others who had nothing to do with those perpetrators' suffering. Now if they had gone after the people who are responsible for their woes, then it is a very gray area, it would all depend on a lot of variables, whether the responsible parties continued to cause trouble to them or suffering, and/or depending on what the responsible parties did. Note that I am not condoning vengeance or violence against anyone, just putting that out there as a gray area.
One thing that always baffled me was how people who took others with them aren't considered mentally ill or irrational, but evil and then hated through the public at large as well as media, yet when someone suicides or only took themselves out, it is seen as mentally ill, irrational, and depressed. It is almost as if someone who hurt others they aren't considered mentally ill, yet if they only hurt themselves they are considered mentally ill. Correct me if I'm wrong, or unless I'm not seeing things the right way. In short if someone commits mass murder, the public and the media often calls for punishment and condemnation, dismisses the fact of mental illness, but yet if the person only takes his/her own life, then public and media calls it 'mentally ill'. Both actions require cognitive planning and careful planning, as well as a level of rationality in order to execute, but one is mentally ill while the other one is just 'evil'. Doesn't make sense logically...A good reason to eliminate the public school prisons. They just are not healthy environments and they force u to go there to be indoctrinated but not prepared and set up to be successful in your life.

If you, theoretically, are in so much pain that you think it's the fault of other people, the answer is not murder. Seek help, and if you just can't do it anymore, so be it. There's no excuse to take with you other people, even if you believe it's their fault you are so unhappy

i think the massacre was done for attention. they didn't get noticed by girls or other students as much as they wanted to be. they were in their own heads a lot and their problems with their mental health just emphasised that and led them to a bad decision. but to go from contemplating a school shooting to planning it out, buying the gear and actually being capable of killing 13 people makes me question what else pushes someone to cross that line...
they wanted to be famous and they got it, but ever since there have been a number of copycat incidents thanks to them. they wanted to represent those who were victims of bullying but they did the opposite. they were the bullies in that situation. they killed students at random.

It would probably help some people to understand the term "sociopath". The only reason most people can feel that what those two boys did was wrong is because they are capable of imagining the victims trauma. Most people are capable of feeling shame for causing other people pain. You have to be born with the emotional capacity to feel that hurting other's is wrong and you also need other people teaching you why it's wrong. We most likely evolved to have this kind of behavior. It's how we survive in groups.
Some people are simply broken. All you can really do is label them as abnormal. In this case you would call their behavior "sociopathic". It probably wasn't a lack of moral education... I'm sure they "knew" other people would disaprove. But they didn't feel like it was wrong. Sociopaths lack the capacity to feel or imagine other people's pain.
I believe most people are a little sociopathic. It's a sliding scale. It's similar to autism or aspbergers...

A Florida student who officials said was on a "pilgrimage" to Columbine near the 20th anniversary of the shooting was found dead on Wednesday.
Her threats had prompted a massive police hunt in the Denver area and the closing of hundreds of schools.
Sheriff Jeff Shrader of Jefferson County, Colo., said the woman, identified as Sol Pais, 18, was found dead from an "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Before she was found, the authorities said Ms. Pais had traveled to Denver and was considered armed and "extremely dangerous," leading to the decision to keep about half a million students home in two dozen school districts.

We do not know for certain what the girl's intentions were. I think you should go into her background to find out if there was any trauma in her life. But good that nothing bad happened.

I agree that I know nothing about her, so I cannot judge.
It is just another tragedy related to the Columbine massacre.
I am not against the possession of a weapon.
I DO feel USA is a little too gun crazy.
It is too easy to get a gun in USA, too many loopholes for people who shouldn't have guns to get guns.

Dont see why people even do shootings nowadays, it'll just cause a circle jerk for a week or 4 and then be forgotten, it will never have the same spark as what Mcveigh or Eric Harris done.

The education system is to blame: bullying should be criminalized, even for minors. Teachers and other adults often do bullying too (or do nothing to prevent it). If Eric and Dylan were mentally ill and psychopaths, should they learn along with everyone else? This is normal? Those who bullying people (especially physically or mentally ill) do not deserve any pity and forgiveness. If someone shoot to death all sick retards that bullying him - it is just self defense, but the innocent should not suffer.Last edited:
