Venting CO problems

I have been on here almost everyday all the time researching so I get it right. I have looked at every post possible.

I hate that there is a specific way to do it, but every non CTB person had a possible CTB by accident because of different things. So when I hear of it not working for some people who use the specific method it blows my mind. Almost like even though there is a specific way to do it we don't even understand it in the slightest making there be more variables then we think.

How do people do it on accident and those who chose to do it fail?

Your method is CO? What issue with CO are you having?

i guess I'm mostly fearful it won't work because of all the people who wrote goodbye letters and still here. Like either really small or really big mistakes, but a person can CTB accidentally by just bringing the grill inside their house to keep warm or a leak and then they CTB without even taping anything or even checking to limit the airflow.

I even had the smell of gas fill up my garage during the winter with a propane heater and only able to get rid of it by open all the doors to the garage like it's already sealed.

The fear of brain damage. I just want to succeed and failing scares me. Like there are so many variables that can happen that I have no control over.

I found all the posts I think possibly exist here and it's all over the place.

You need to research all you can on the topic, plan it well, not do what the "failed attempt" people did, and do it right. Using the smallest space practical (a tent for example) makes things easier. You need to learn to seal the "enclosure" up properly. You need to know how much, and what kind, of charcoal to use, how to light it, how to wait for it to become "white hot", then move the charcoals into the enclosure, wait some more for the enclosure to fill with CO, and then enter the enclosure. In other words you need to study everything you can about the method. If you haven't, read the CO Megathread. Read it multiple times even. If you have questions about something, then you make a thread and ask your questions. If you really want to CTB, there's absolutely no reason CO cannot work, as long as you have the willingness to learn about it and the resources to get what you need to make it successful. I think it would be helpful if you put those "accidental" CO poisonings out of your mind and just use that brain energy to concentrate only on what you want to do. Just my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

I've read the CO everything on here over and over. Like in some it says that CO is lighter than air is closer to the ceiling, but another says that CO is something like friends with O2 and just lives amongst it instead of rising higher.

I understand the smell of rotten eggs is super bad and if you have any fire present then it's not ready. It has to be grey and glow red.

I have an idea what I can do, but unless it's a certain tent or a small sealed bathroom it's not going to work. If a person can CTB by accident in a larger room with some small airflow without controlling it then other ideas should be able to work, but it has to be exactly what the mega thread says with no exceptions.

If a person wants to CTB then shouldn't there be ways for them to do it in a comfortable environment they want with help to make it work? It's their last chosen act in life and it's depressing to be forced into something specific. It almost sounds like it has to be a specific way that's said in the one thread so if you chose to do it your way you're not going to get help to make it work. Like people are tired of answering questions.

I'm sorry if this bothers anyone, but the last act of your existence should be mostly what you want with a little help to make it work. Isn't that what this site is all about? There should be many ways that it works and not just one.

Like with SN you can take it without doing all the extra steps. It might suck more, but it still works. I understand the other steps help you be more comfortable and less possibility of puking. It has to be those certain things, but not everyone can get those certain things. My doctor won't prescribe me anything hard because I have an addiction/alcohol problem. I also don't have direct access to Mexico. Maybe someone has suppliers available and maybe they don't want to share them for fear of losing them.

Also, not all of us have alot of money. I lost my job because I was on a medical hold from my doctor too long due to panic attacks from what I went through at work.

My problems stem from childhood and never got better with other traumas/medical problems along the way. I am also having a problem because at the beginning of the year I have given up all hope and can't function. It's just I've had one thing too many and given up my will. Maybe I'm just venting and freaking out again. I also really don't want to bother anyone or hurt anyone's feelings because it kills me if I do. My life has been all about helping others. It's the only thing that makes me feel happy, but with my current condition I sure as hell ain't helping anyone. I can't even help myself.

it may be helpful to you if you conducted test runs with a CO meter before attempting.

TPI 707 measures up to 10,000ppm.

CO is a little bit lighter than air but that does not mean everything is below the ceiling it's spreads almost evenly in the room, but still the concentrations close to the floor may significantly be lower than higher up, but defintitely it is possible to generate lethal concetrantions in a bathroom size room.

And as was already said, if possible get a CO meter ans do tests in your environment. That's the only way to know the real concentrations.

That TPI 707 is about $400, but there's one company (and so maybe more) that rent them out. Itm instruments rents it out for $15 a day. Unbelievable. They would learn that lesson quick. This shouldn't be hard, you're right. But it is, for the heaviest reasons, which you already know.

i was lucky enough that I already acquired that meter. My biggest frustration that's causing the most anxiety is I have no will to function. I have that meter, bags of lump charcoal, 2 chimneys, small blocks of fire starter that's perfect for chimneys, etc.

I am not scared and I really want to do it, but anything that takes effort, more than binge watching tv, is almost impossible.

I've hit my limit on trauma/and bad things happening to me. I made it 40+ years and went through so much in my life that any positive is in no way enough to cancel out the bad. I've given up. I don't know how to get myself out of this really deep hole. I've talked to therapists, taken medications, and even called the suicide line twice and nothing is working.

Talking to people here is helping a little, but it's not enough sadly.

not everybody can afford to buy a CO meter, but i believe it to be a requirement.

When people die accidently the CO concentration must have been high enough to kill them without sealing the room.
When other people fail with this method, possible reasons can be:

not enough coal
low quality coal
low quality BBQ
room not sealed perfectly

If I would choose this method, I would use 2 BBQ, each with the required amount of coal. I would use a Weber® kettle BBQ and the best lump coal I can get.

Can relate to this a lot. All the steps you have to take for preparation, and speaking for myself the reading and learning is just hard when youre completely drained of all your energy.

That was lucky! Let me add something, CO meters need to be calibrated periodically to be accurate. It's yet another little detail to think about. There are placed you can send them where they calibrate them. The meters have something in them that is sensitive to CO but it changes or degrades over time.
