Clean up data before CTB?

I have been going through a slow process of detaching myself from others, seeing who stays (if anyone), and arranging my stuff and cleaning my data.

This might sound like an odd thing to do instead of just CTBing, but…I can't seem to find a SN source that hasn't shut down. I figure what I do have is time. So I'm using that time to try and remove my personal data online.

So far this has looked like:

- tracking down accounts
- user deletion where possible
- engaging third party deletion services where possible
- deleting accounts (so that people left behind don't go snooping) possible

I see this as step 1 to setting up a will. Why a will? Because I have a work retirement account. That's all.

I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this. Any data cleanup or privacy concerns I'm forgetting?

Are you in the US? If so you should be able to handle the work retirement account by setting beneficiaries on it.

I am, but I have a rollover ira from a previous job. Can theoretically set up beneficiaries there too (and I have) but I want to be certain.

I have beneficiaries on every account I have...brokerage accounts, retirement accounts, chase bank accounts.

I see. And you just want a will to make sure everything is set. Well no harm in being thorough.
