I am wondering if anyone who is having chronic pain has experience to been on the fentanyl patch from 25 MCG to 100 MCG for years. Asking hair because there are quite a few people with chronic pain on this forum and I am in a similar situation and quite desperate for any relief. The patchrs give a few hours of a little bit of relief but not reducing enough to not be forced to ctb

I have been on hydromorphone for a long time and my pain clinic will NOt let me have fentanyl as the hydromorphone is not working too good any more. I wish I could give you answer and look forward to other replies on here about it. I have told my pain doctor and clinic all the time if my chronic pain is not somewhat kept in check then it is ctb for me. Even that aspect does not influence them to do something different. I hope and pray that you can get relief from your chronic pain. I send you all my love, caring, empathy and kindness that I have to try and help you!

Is hydromorphone less than fentanyl. I have told everyone from family to doctors but I cannot continue in this fashion. Nobody cares.

Hydromorphone is the strongest opoid that is still made from poppy resin. NOW fentanyl is much stronger than hydromorphone, but fentanyl is 100% lab made from chemcials, no natural products, like poppy resin. I have been on opoids for over 5 years and I started with oxycodone and moved up to hydromorphone when the oxy quit working.

I am always 100% honest, so here it goes, and yes I can look like a fool! I have no idea how to do a private message, now where the little envelope icon is, I have talked to other members before. Is that what you mean? sorry that I am behind the times. I would love to chat with you.

Yes fentanyl you can get tolerant of. Unfortunately there's not much else in the way of pain meds that are opioids, it sucks doctors and lawmakers have a tight grip on that; it's not fair. it's very hard to ctb with fentanyl if you're tolerant of it tough, so another method would be useful.

I TOTALLY agree with you as far as doctors and lawmakers have a tight grip on opoids for chronic pain and other medial problems. Right after the car crash in 2015, I was prescribed oxycodone and no questions or anything. Now I had to switch to hydromorphone becasue I got tolerant to oxycodone and also it was not keeping my pain down since my condition keeps getting worse. Boy getting the hydromorphone prescription was like pulling teeth from a chicken!!! I had to jump through so many hoops. After having been on hydromorphone for over 2 years, I made the mistake of asking if I could have a increase of 1 extra pill a day and all hell broke loose. I had to meet with a addication doctor to see if I could stay on opoids and after getting his blessing that I was NOT addicated, I still could only have the amount that I always had, no more. Like I always say, " easy to judge, hard to understand"!

Why aren't you being prescribed anything?
I've been to a few doctors and nothing. The pain specialist wouldn't prescribe anything until he injected my back and I wouldn't let him so that was the end of that.
