hello all, been thinking about ways to ctb and crashing my car sounds so easy but im still quite nervous to attempt it. i have a 03 eclipse its top speed is about 150mph my car does have airbags if that matters. any feedback on how successful an attempt like this would be and suggestions on how where/what to crash into. i assume a big tree? but would like some help from the community.

if you have any questions please ask.. thank you, x

I thought about a car crash for a while. It seemed like a great way to make it look like an accident. I thought about doing it in inclement weather at night.

I worry about how imprecise it is though. I've seen absolutely crushed cars my friends have crashed over the years that they've walked away from relatively unscathed. Of course, they were wearing seat belts and had functioning airbags. I'm sure the chances of catching the bus could be greatly improved with some planning, but then it might look less accidental and it's still not a guarantee.

I know someone who successfully did this by crashing into the concrete posts of an overpass on a highway. he probably died on impact, but the car immediately caught on fire

I have thought about this method too, but very afraid that I would survive but be severely disabled as a result.
A friend of mine wanted to do it, and said they planned to drive up a winding mountain road in the autumn and drive over the edge and eventually be covered by the leaves below.

I thought about this too. Even got to the point of removng the airbag fuses. Thought about many scenarios but nothing seemed to be failproof in my mind. The chances of failure were always too high. Gave up the idea.

I advise against this. What if you crash, lose limbs but survive. Now you can't hold a cup of SN.

driving directly into a solid brick wall at 150mph has no chance of survival

I crashed my car in a ctb attempt 2 years ago and even though the car went into a wall and flipped over I came out with no significant injuries. But was sectioned and put on a medical ban which is now being a complete nightmare to get removed. Cars are built to protect you and generally do their job pretty well. I hadn't disabled the air bag though which might have helped. And yes if you did get up to 150mph and crashed it would be unsurvivable I would have thought. You'd just need to think about location and not risk other drivers.

Yes a friend of mine did it and just got head injury but survived. Wrote of the car of course.

There is probably a way to disable the airbags, might be as simple as removing the right fuse in the fuse box.

This is high on my list of possible methods, I think the way to do it is to tie your neck to the frame or any solid attachment point. I would hate to survive long enough to burn alive or just be thrown out of the car.

Seems dangerously unpredictable to me. Don't do it with a tree. For a start, trees can be somewhat flexible, which would absorb some of the force of impact. Second, a tree is a living organism, and crashing a car into it would damage it severely. If you are going to do this, you would want to crash head on, at very high speed (100 mph or more), into a solid wall of rock, or into a very solid concrete structure - and it should be the sort of structure that is un-damageable, so that probably excludes any kind of building. You should probably disable any airbag first, if that is possible. And don't wear a seat belt. But overall I think it's a bad method. There are too many things that could go wrong, and there could be a risk of injuring or killing someone else if your car goes out of control.

pull the air bags completely, because even if you disconnect them they can still go off because of a capacitor in it that retains the electricity as a safety feature. also don't wear a seatbelt, or for the airbags you can attach something heavy like a dumbbell or lifting weight or to your steering wheel and then the steering wheel turns it into a projectile because EXPLOSIVES.

How fast did you go?

Did you use seatbelt ?

If you hit the wall, how the car can flip?

I did have a seatbelt on.. and to be honest that's the first time I've thought about that. The whole thing might have been a better attempt if I hadn't have been wearing it! But I was not in any sort of rational state at that moment and not thinking straight.
I don't know how fast I was going. It was an A road and quite bendy but I think maybe 50 mph at an estimate?
All I know is the wall was wrecked and I got an insurance company after me for the repairs.. and I remember being upside down in the car when it happened and crawling out through the window.
Is it something you're thinking of then?

With no seatbelt, that crash would have killed you because you would be thrown out of the car, survival rate is very high when a person wear the seatbelt

You will be thrown out head first so head is gonna hit the ground at that speed, no one can survive that!

Next time, you could try a powerful motor bike. A high speed crash on a bike is probably not survivable, especially if you are not wearing a helmet.

This is the reason I stopped driving. CTB does not include the lives others.

im 2 first ctb attempt was by crashing my car

first time i rolled the car and airbags was disconnected

the second time i was drunk and smashed the car against a big rock at high speed, airbags smacked me in the face
it is definitely possible, but there is a great danger of just injuring yourself
