How many grams are in a tablespoon of SN? The SN is from DE so if you have that brand and a scale it would be even better. I can't get a solid answer on this. All range from 13 to 17 grams.

I don't have a scale either, but being from USA I was concerned about measurements as well. I remember reading about it on the failed attempts mega thread. I saw several people say that 1 tablespoon is approximately 17 grams. So, if you're going for 20 grams, it would be 1.17 tablespoons. If you're going for 25 grams, it would be 1.47 tablespoons. If I am incorrect, please do correct me, but I do remember seeing multiple sources say that 1 tablespoon is pretty close to 17 grams.

SN is fairly fine grain, so 1 tbsp volume will weigh a bit more than a flaky, coarse kosher salt.
That's why you get different results when you google this.

The finer the grain, the more grains you can "fit" in a level tablespoon (if you are using an actual measuring spoon).

(Obviously people from countries that don't usually use measuring spoons will have to weigh and not use a soup spoon (as in silverware) as those are usually much larger.)

1. Your best bet is to weigh it yourself.
2. Your second best bet is to use an actual measuring spoon and properly level it off, assuming that 1 tbsp equals 15g and 1/2 tbsp equals 7.5g. That'll get you pretty close, but you'll never get the exact g just right if you are not using a scale.

I can't weigh myself and time is of the essence. Thank you.

I'd love to help but I'm terrified of taking any of my SN out of the bag and putting it on my kitchen scale yet, because I'm scared I'll somehow knock it all over or accidently drop some of the SN before I'm able to CTB.
