This site helped me a lot while I was struggling, having a place where I could vent and have genuine discussions with people who understood me, and getting to the point where I was in control of my fate so I didn't feel as caged. It's stupid but I live in the US and we're infested with Christian moralism about all of this, and I'm poor and couldn't defend myself from trouble.

there is a recovery and offtopic section. whether they use this site to end their pain or find like minded people to help them through it in the recovery section, is up to them. while it is a "suicide site" its more of a suicidal PEOPLE site that can use it to help them end their pain thats right for them, be it "professional therapy", "off the wall" options (ex shrooms have been known to help), or ending it. its a little sad that seems to keep getting lost amongst the members. "its a suicide site"...umm not..really. and holding on to "its a suicide site" vs an "option site", really isnt helping with the prolifers and just giving them more ammo
I doubt you'd get into any legal trouble. Your friend would probably greatly appreciate the suggestion. I know I would have really liked it if someone had told me about this site earlier, so I wouldn't have had to suffer in pain for as long.

No idea about the legality, but the people here are infinitely more helpful, supportive and welcoming than any psychologist/therapist/what have you ever will be.
Plus they treat you like a fellow human and actually understand what going through this is like instead of being treated as a defective product that for unexplainable reasons does not enjoy life and our current society, because it is unthinkable to not enjoy life.
