As someone with decreased empathy, I think I have a unique take on this.

If you mean Affective Empathy... yeah, it definitely can be if you don't have a healthy amount of it. I used to be hyperempathetic as a young child, but lost all of it when I got older.

I still feel it rarely. Specifically for one person in particular. It's a double-edged sword—it's an extremely bonding experience to feel emotions you haven't felt reliably in years, but it's also overwhelming and vulnerable.

Yes, it will consume you if you don't learn to shut yourself off properly when necessary.

Can be a blessing and a curse

Cuz prob people use that to their advantage or you have to rely on work on the amount of "good deeds" or you have to do the heavy lifting in relationships.

I think is called the empathetic high? Idk

If you over exort yourself to the point of people pleasing or measuring your with becomes really exhausting, to the point it becomes hard to say no

For example I like buying people gifts or do things around the house. I dont if feel like an awful person, even if i dont have the means or feel completely drained or exhausted. Or even saying no to a favor.

Im still learning how.
