Brain damage from interrupted hanging

Hello all.

This is more out of morbid curiosity and a desire to understand other people's experiences than anything else. I know that brain damage from having a hanging attempt interrupted is a common outcome, and is often used to dissuade people from attempting with that method. My question is, does anyone have experience with this? Either from being the one who's hanging was interrupted, or from having family or friends who had interrupted hangings. What changed?

I think if a person has serious brain damage, it's unlikely that they can describe their feelings and consequences here. I feel so sorry for people like that.

My biggest fears if I have to CTB one day are:
1. The attempt failing and me having brain damage or physical damage
2. Excessive pain and suffering before I pass away
