For sure; so, the forum has both DMs which are called Conversations and are basically private threads for two or more people (there's an upper limit though), and well as Chat. You can initiate either on a user's profile card, assuming they allow them (some do not):

imo Conversation is far more useful for people you talk to infrequently, as it sends an alert on every message and is hard to miss; initiating a Chat with someone only sends them an alert at first—when a chatroom with you and them is created—but will manually need to be checked thereafter. There are also group chatrooms where anyone can come and go whenever.

Chemi actually had some issues with the chat when access was gained and it might take some more days to work right. I don't think there are any other permissions given other than these at this point but if there's anything weird or confusing just holler.

I tried to Chat somebody earlier and was given an error message, perhaps this is the cause? Makes sense.

Yeah same for her. She started one with me, I was alerted and could use it, but she couldn't. I don't think they did everything right on the backend when they changed the conditions for accessing chat and DMs so everyone will just be confused forever.

haha, you can use it for whatever you want; all the tools are out there, I just want everyone to have equal access.

Also I just now actually noticed your age despite copying in your card in the post above. It's still summons a cloud over me to see someone so young end up here, knowing what must have led them. Sorry about life :/
