I don't remember most of my dreams if we assume we dream every time we sleep but the dreams I remember I know quite a few details about them. Last night I dreamed I was in a Danganronpa class trial with someone I had a crush on in school.

I would say I don't dream most nights. I love how my dreams are most of the time quite weird but can hate it if its about previous trauma. I just want to escape from the pains of life and my brain just decides it wants to hurt me for a particular night :<

Definitely the nightmares are better than actually being at school again as I would say dreams less effect you than real life and at least after the nightmare I don't have to worry about going to school the next day or some other time soon. I don't mind the dying ones as often when I die in them the dream just becomes pitch black and I don't have to experience any other pain. I had recurring nightmare as a child were I got run over by a vehicle as I was scared of crossing roads and traffic when I was younger.
Pitch darkness may seem scary at first but its at least consistent. No having to experience anything negative or sudden, personally I would say thats peaceful. I am sorry you get scared easily tho :<
