I just got a manual blood pressure cuff from Walmart. I'm thinking of trying the method where you put it around your neck and pump it up until you pass out. Will this seriously work though? I've given up on finding SN.

Idk in theory it would work as long as it stays attached. When it was posted about a number of weeks ago it seemed possible.

Theoretically seems plausible... but I wonder about the survival instinct. I mean a plastic bag over the head is practically free but often fails because people rip through it. I can only imagine the mad scramble to release the valve and pull the cuff off once reality and impending loss of consciousness sets in.

It has to be placed in the proper position to function as intended. The key is to cut off blood (not air) supply to the brain, just as collar choke in Judo or BJJ, the choked contestants pass out in seconds without much struggle.

I just keep getting the exploding feeling in my head when I try. I must be doing something wrong.

Have you got small bean bags or something similar that you can place on your arteries before you pump it up?
I have a feel that you are just putting the cuff on and it is putting pressure on everything and it is not being targeted in the place it needs to be, instead putting more pressure on your wind pipe.

Unfortunately I do not have small bean bags or anything to place there.

Even with the balled up socks there my head still feels like it's going to explode.
If I don't pump it up as much I don't get the head exploding feeling but then I waited for like 1 min and still didn't pass out. How long is it supposed to take?
It could be because you're compressing the jugular veins but not the carotid arteries. It takes significantly more pressure to compress the arteries than the veins. If you only compress the veins blood can go in, but can't leave, leading to a pressure buildup.
