I feel like slaving away for a check just so I can feel shit but survive every month is boring.

Im 18, I have never gotten a job previously. I tried once but it was way too much requirements for 16/hr so I didnt apply (needed 2 years of experience lol).
Im not suicidal. Im just depressed most of the time. I was suicidal but im no longer thinking about it, but I feel like if that is what is to come then I would be suicidal again. I also have shit social anxiety that prevented me from ever having any friends. I dont know how it would go with job interviews and work.

I think most people would agree working sucks ass, but I'd totally slave away at a shitty job If it meant I could live an average non-mentally ill life. Most people are fortunate to live in that situation and take it for granted.

I think most people (those that aren't depressed) have some hobby or a family that makes working hard for not much money worth it to them.

Every job I've worked has sucked the life out of me for sure. Amplified all my problems, except I could buy things which was never worth the effort.

as an excuse for what though? it's fair to say it that way. Minimum wage is still not minimum to live. I could never imagine working a 9-5 just to get off work then go clock in for a second job so that I could meet the minimum to live.

An excuse not to try an excuse not to join society. I'm not saying that's you. I don't know you. I have known many people who seem to use it as excuse.

Right? Speaking of, for reference, here's a post from a guy who worked in the 1980's and 90's when working retail actually sustained people.

it's too painful to live but I'm too afraid to die

A full work week should be 32 hours (because it basically already is; a lot of time "on the clock" is actually just wasted and inefficient) for at least the same pay. Minimum wage should actually be livable. Dirty, dangerous, and essential jobs that keep society functioning need to pay way more to justify the sacrifice, assuming they don't already.

There are apparently people who like working. I don't really understand how or why. Not sure if it's because they lack hobbies, their work is their hobby, they lucked out and found a unicorn job, or it got them out of an even worse situation. Whatever the case might be—that ain't me. I've talked at length before about how stoic purpose and fulfillment has never ever been a substitute for happiness. What I'm trying to say is: you can't be happy all the time, but never being happy is equally unendurable no matter how much "purpose" you throw at it. Purpose is just supposed to help you get from one happiness to the next, to bridge the gaps. Yes there will be bad days here and there, tough times, but right now the balance is completely out of wack. This saying is so overused but the juice literally isn't worth the squeeze. I would seriously rather die than work for 50 years.

Bezos does not need another billion. Musk does not need another million. 99% of people suffer needlessly, pointlessly because of the psychopathic greed of like... 10,000 people in the world. It's fucking absurd. Every single one of them can afford to take even a 1% paycut more so that people have their basic needs met first-and-foremost, and to provide work-life balance that would reduce the stress of many people IMMENSELY. Rather than make the tiniest of compromises for better workplaces and wages that would overall lead to higher job satisfaction (which would probably be enough to make most people shut up), they would rather go the nuclear option and grind people into dust, outsource to other countries (modern slavery), or outright replace employees with robots that won't complain.

Why? Because of Affluenza. Literally no other reason. No other justification.

It will never change. It's human nature. Call for a French Revolution 2.0 and the same thing will happen, the cycle will repeat. You'll just replace 10,000 pieces of shit with another 10,000. There is no solution. If you don't hit the lottery, whether that be birth or the money kind, it's quite literally gg. There are no jobs worth working. They all suck ass. They all suck you dry of energy and a will to live, and fill you back up with dread and anxiety and money that you haven't time to spend on anything enjoyable.

Not a whole lot has changed since the feudal age. Sure, your master is forced to pay you in money backed by magic and belief, and any extra money can be spent on stupid consumer bullshit that goes right back into master's pockets. True, you can't be physically hit and abused by your master, but you cannot defend yourself from the feral general public who treat you like dirt because you have a McDonald's uniform on. Yes, you are allowed to live off the plantation now, likely at a property owned by master or one of his rich friends anyway. They still have you by the balls, they pay you the bare minimum so that you can practically never leave, they provide no upward mobility or personal growth, they don't train new employees, any request for a single day off is met with passive aggression and guilt-tripping. People own less and less things with the money master gives them, instead being forced to rent a car from... you guessed it, from somebody's master. Do I really need to continue just stating basic observations about the world we live in? It's absolute utter garbage existence.

In my opinion, I wouldn't call all of this an excuse to not try or join society. I've done tried, and I'm very unimpressed with "society." I see quite plainly how it all works, and experienced first-hand how there is no worthwhile reward. What are you going to do, find purpose in supporting a family that you never get to see? A spouse who has to work, meaning children have such little time with their parents that it's damaging to their development? I digress. Fuck this world. I hate people and the prison they've stupidly built.

I think there should be universal basic income or at least better financial support for people, who have medical conditions (including depression and social anxiety) and not trying to blame them into thinking it's their problem, if they don't have a job for example, when clearly it, in most cases, is not

i will never stop hating the older generations for robbing me of the American dream. they coasted along the easy street, riding off the post war economic boom and then locked the door behind them and burnt it
