I've seen a few people talking about seeing "patrols" at beachy head. Chaplain team always on the look out and if you look like you will ctb they will hold you down and call the authorities.

Do they surround the area? Is it really that hard to get through them? Can someone who has been to beachy head please explain what it is like. It is my best option right now.

They do. Sometimes you can bypass them. It is luck dependant really.
They will try emotional blackmail and guilt trip you off the ledge, in a moment where you really want clarity and no outside influences to make a decision.

Some members a few years ago from my recollection got stopped by them.

Here is a post.

Seems like the most obvious option, but maybe not the most effective (like in the US - lots of jumpers from the Golden Gate Bridge, but it's hardly the only bridge in the country).

Beachy Head does seem like idyllic, many people have ctb there. But a lot of people suddenly get cold feet when they are there and survival instinct kicks in. The chaplains are always looking for people. I even read taxi drivers, pub landlords everyone is always on the lookout for potential jumpers so it seems.

But you could probably have a dslr camera etc and pretend you are a tourist interested in nature etc or another sold believable story and i am sure no one will question it.

I was there years ago at night, unrelated to ctb, and no one was around.

for all its popularity and scenic beauty, why don't people look up other places? either in the UK or beyond. i am sure there are thousands, some perhaps even higher in altitude and of greater beauty. and no pesky LE 😇

That's what i was thinking too. What are they going to do, grab a photographer and hold him down?

I have been - they are around but if you don't look shifty and lurking by the edge too much - they'll look elsewhere

I went down a few weeks ago...chaplains do drive around and will come and ask if you're ok if you look suspicious.....I wandered off then heard police sirens.....cliffs at Seven Sisters and Cuckmere also an option....almost as high...best to take things as props like picnic etc

However idyllic and peaceful the place the sheer violence and gore involved in jumping would overcome that for me at least.

They should just let people ctb if that is what they want, they should have no right to interfere in someone elses personal decision about their life. Jumping is terrifying enough without the fear of someone else interrupting the attempt. Beachy Head does sound like a nice place to die at, but jumping does scare me as a method. Those who ctb this way must had been really desperate and I envy their courage.

Not worth risking a max. 250ft drop (as at Seaford Head) when BH can offer you 400ft just a mile or so away (FYI the 530ft height is NOT anywhere near a sheer cliff edge). Safe travels.

Do you have a link to this?

This is the key, or at least one if them - but there is a another key, but I shan't discuss it, because the chaplains read this site apparently
