I don't understand why some people have to leave hateful remarks or make fun of someone who may not understand a slang term or a drug or method. Many on here have physical illnesses that affect comprehension, memory. Some of us are older and didn't learn about computers or the dark web. I taught myself and when I became ill I became unable to understand my computer or printer. I look at it and couldn't even begin to know where to start. I have fumbled through my phone. It's the best I can do. If I ask a question I am often met with a sarcastic remark. Are we not all on this site because we hurt in our hearts? Aren't we all fighting the same battle? I don't understand why we have to add more hurt to someone who's already in pain.

Agree... I do get sarcastic comments under my threads but I don't point it out. I'm kind of sentimental; don't wanna sound like a wimp

Every now and again, I will get comments that are rude or dismissive or otherwise unacceptable to me. The best response is honestly to ignore it. You need to realize that on some level, a lot of people WANT your negative reaction and if you don't want the behavior to continue, you need to cut off the oxygen.

As far as I understand, this is already covered under the TOS and if you don't want to interact with someone you can use the "ignore" functionality on someone's profile to hide their posts.

I think it's more a suggestion to the forum members than the forum itself. Mama bear always tries her hardest to be kind and considerate of everyone here. There's enough pain and suffering out of here. Inside, I hope people foster a environment of recovery, kindness, and gentleness.

Your post touched me. I've seen you often post on the partner's mega thread and wished your suffering would end.

I'm sure some people can be insensitive. But most people here are kind.

Alot of people like to take their anger out on others when they are miserable or think things like that are obvious so they explain it in a sarcastic or rude way, its just how people are, while it sucks you cant really change the nature of alot of these people when they arent willing to change

I'm sorry it can be crappy dealing with people sometimes. I should say something like, "well aktually they're going thru their own crap, and hostility, sarcasm, and teasing is how they cope," but honestly, fuck that. You didn't deserve to get caught in the crosshairs of jerks, because there's no excuse for it.

I think they made that clear- for people to consider what they're saying and, who they might be saying it to- before they post. I guess one test would be- how would I react to this if someone said this to me?

Sadly, there are trolls everywhere on the internet OP so, some of it you may need to just brush off as someone trying to poke about for a hurt or angry reaction. I suppose the interesting question is why they feel the need to do that. That doesn't scream mentally stability either.

I've fallen into the trap of overstepping the mark on occasion though to be honest. We should probably all be questioning how reasonable we're being when we make more personal comments.

I think it can also be tricky here though. Not to blame an individual but, some members literally seem to be asking to be taken through a method, step by step for instance. Seeing as assisting a suicide is illegal in many countries and, certain countries are becoming more like nanny states (the UK for instance,) it can also feel troubling to feel 'baited' to overstep the mark.

Not a good excuse but, longer term members may also feel fatigued at the weekly/ almost daily round of: 'Tell me the best way to kill myself' (in detail preferably and with sources.) Again, because it's baiting assistance and- it's against one of the first rules they must have read before joining.

It's effectively asking a total stranger to put themselves at (possibly 14 years in prison) risk- if they do actually overstep the mark when- the information they will likely be sharing is already here to read. Most people I would say, believe that suicide is a risky choice that we need to read up on and, make the decision for ourselves.

That's not to say that's the reason you're getting cynical remarks- you shouldn't anyway of course. But, it's one of the motivators here I think for short, sarcastic replies.

Yeah I got that. But this is a section for specific, actionable improvements to the forum.

We have the TOS, we have the ability to report things to the mods, we have the ability ignore people's accounts.

Sure, I've had some uncomfortable encounters and can understand where this is coming from.

But without a meaningful suggestion for improvement that can be acted on by the mods, this is kinda just virtue signaling/vague posturing and should be moved to the off-topic section.
