Nice try, but these methods can work with the right modifications. A blow to the head can work with a shotgun and the rope just needs to be set up right to actually hang.

You really need to understand the consequences of a suicide attempt.

And all of the consequences are horrible.

Even if the attempt succeeds in death? I mean- I agree- I don't want to maim myself- I want to kill myself. I'm kind of guessing this guy thinks death would also be a bad result though. I guess that depends on your beliefs... People who believe suicides go to hell will argue that a successful attempt is also a bad thing- plus- the obvious grief it leaves behind.

Still, I'd say the majority of people here are nearing their wits end- many don't even believe in hell- or- at least have serious doubts. They simply feel like they can't go on and they're way past the point where they have the energy or even belief that things can even get better.

Plus- what methods are likely to fail with life altering consequences. The last thing any of us want is to make matters worse for ourselves. Still- like others have said- that's a part of the function of sites like this- so we are able to research various methods and make decisions. I think impulsive, ill planned attempts are definitely very risky.

I personally think my method will be SN following all the protocols I can. I hope that will give me the best chance of success. I'd rather not contemplate failure but I have read of many failed SN attempts with fewer health consequences than other methods.

Statistics. Most of suicides do not cause long term harm. The reason for places like this is to have people research methods so they do not fail by becoming paralyzed. It is a risk but It all can be avoided. You can learn how to do things right.

Suicide is better then living hellish/purgatory life. Death is not bad. It is only sure thing in life and you say It is bad.

For most of us this is not our first rodeo. We may have made attempts or have at least thought about it incessantly. The risks of failure is understood. We don't need someone to try and "scare" us away from suicidal thoughts and desires. That's not helpful, nor will it work. I have yet to see someone tell another member here to harm themselves. This forum is the only place I know where one can feel supported by people who for the most part are like- minded. We all know where the Suicide helplines are if we feel the need to utilize them. I presume that you have never experienced the prolonged and extreme suffering required for most people to understand why this is such a shitty thing to come here and say. If I am wrong about that lack of experience then I am afraid that you lack empathy or are just strange. There are realities much worse than you could imagine that some people are faced to endure for far too long when stripped of the autonomy over their life (the one that they didn't make the choice to have in the first place). I understand that we live in a society where you are taught that this is the altruistic way to approach suicidal people but I do not understand why you think that it makes any sense to come here and say all this.

I see nothing wrong with the post as far as being a reminder of the risks, because yeah, as much I hate my life and this world, surviving an attempt and ending up like one of those people would be far, far worse than my current circumstances.

The vast majority of people who attempt suicide do not actually die by suicide.
(Let me emphatically remind you that it is never okay to die by suicide or attempt suicide. Never.
So please let me share with you some of the horrors of people who have attempted suicide, and were left in bad shape because of their attempt.

Amber jumped off of a cliff. She lived, but broke her back (and many other bones). And now she is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. She lives with her mother.

Martin shot himself in the head with a revolver. He survived, but suffered extensive brain damage. He is in a care facility.

Steven tried to hang himself. He survived, but suffered extensive brain damage. His mother and father now care for him.

Donna thought that taking an overdose of pills would be a peaceful and surefire way to end her life. She took the overdose, but she did not die. Her mother found her lying unconscious on the floor. Donna lapsed into a coma. She eventually came out of her coma, but suffered internal organ damage and brain damage. She is in a care facility.

James shot himself in the abdomen. He did not die, but he suffered massive injuries and lost a kidney.

Elizabeth jumped from a bridge. She landed on a rock and broke her back (and many other bones). She survived, but is paralyzed from the neck down and is in a care facility.

Charles cut his wrists. He survived but severed a tendon and damaged several nerves in his left arm. He has never regained full use of his left hand.

Roger thought a shotgun would blow his head clean off so he would die instantly. He placed the back of the gun on the ground and pulled the trigger. He lived. The gun moved as he was pulling the trigger and his brain was not touched, but the tremendous muzzle blast destroyed his face--everything just below his eyes was gone, including his mouth, chin, nose, and cheeks. After innumerable surgeries, Roger still lives with horrible disfigurement.

And, unfortunately, there are many, many more sad stories like these.

Suicide is a very, very, very serious thing. It is never okay to die by suicide. And for many people who attempt suicide, the result is a paralyzed or disfigured body, or permanent brain damage.

Please don't be one of those people.

Please get help.

If they're so concerned something will go wrong, these people should help us by helping to ensure we die in the most garuanteed and peaceful way possible. Why can't they respect a choice. We don't choose to take these risks, the fact that the choice to die is so frowned upon has built rules that force us to take risks like this. That is the real crime. If you want to help, help the person solve the problems leading them to feel this way (homelessness, disfigurement, debt, medical disease if there are treatments available pay for it) and if they choose to die because there is no cure, help them do it safely!
