Not really an astronomy thread, as this'll just be me posting pictures of space and planets that I really love.

Not anticipating anyone to contribute, mostly doing this to help curb my intrusive thoughts since pictures like this help me relax.

If you enjoy looking at pretty pictures of the sky, the moon and other planets, enjoy.

Same! It really does seem like amazing stuff to research every day. If I could go back in time, I probably would've pushed myself to lean into this more.

It's an exciting field. Just imagine with future tech what we can explore!

Oh no, I wish! I follow a lot of space accounts on social media, looking at picture like this is super calming to me.

I would love to get into astrophotography but I live in a city so I feel like I'd be lucky to see anything special.

When I was a kid, I used to cry whenever I saw pictures of the sky/space. Looking up into the vastity of the universe gives me such an indescribable sensation. I also have already thought of getting into astrophotography. Maybe one day, if I'm still alive at that point, I want to be an amateur astronomer.

My favorite star is Canopus, it is the second brightest start in the night sky!

Literally same! Looking at the sky has always gotten me in such a trance and it always make me so emotional. It always reminds me that the universe is so huge, and there's much more than Earth.

It's such a cool hobby and I hope you'll have a chance to get into it :) I've been trying to push myself towards it more because it's such a nice break from all of my problems. I don't have a telescope or anything, so I just settle for taking tons of crappy pictures of the moon with my phone lol

Hahaha taking photos of the moon with the phone... who has never done that?

I wish I had a telescope as well. I would spend most of my time just dwelling into the void. 🖤

I live close to a dark sky park and have gone to a few events where I could look through telescopes. I took a couple pictures of the moon just by putting my camera to the lens of the very large, park-owned telescope. I'm hesitant to share in case someone I know finds I post here.

Anyway, if you can, I recommend searching for astronomy clubs and/or viewing events in your area and see if you can go. People were very nice and happy to let me look through telescopes and share their interest.

I've also been to a few planetarium shows, which are fun. A favorite moment happened when the astronomer talked about how supernovas are typically seen once every 50 years. Then he showed one. A child in the audience yelled, "Again!" The astronomer said, sorry, we'd have to wait 50 years.

Thanks for your compliment. I'm happy you like the photos. Do you have a camera and a tripod? That'd be all you need to start.

With a camera and a clear sky also other objects than the sun and moon can be observed during daylight - bright planets and stars.
