So, I'm needing space from girlfriend and I'm not sure how to tell her this. I care about her and we live together but I recently had a breakdown that she didn't react well to me so I need some space to figure out what I want.
Just go go her calmly, and tell her this
Explain to her as sincerely as possible that you need time and space because you didn't liked her reaction
Maybe you can have a talk about her reaction and explain to her why you didn't liked it
And if you care, don't forget to remind her that you love her

It might feel like that right now, but truth is you almost certainly still have some sort of bond. Relationships are precious. Don't throw what you still have away, and don't throw away future potential. There's no harm going on a break. But try to think about all the good things, and practice gratitude. You'll feel better, you won't be throwing the relationship away, you'll do less damage to both of you
